September 29, 201312 yr A fantasy baseball friend of mine who is a huge Reds fan and baseball fan sent this message out to our league: Votto and Choo both reached base 300 times this season becoming only the tenth teammates in MLB history to do so, yet the Reds offense sucked. Most fans blame this on either Dusty or Votto. Those fans are idiots. In the real world the problem with the Reds was not Votto but the five other offensive spots in the lineup who ranged from league average to horrific. Why do Cincinnati fans annually blame failure on their best players while ignoring the dreck surrounding them? Is he right? Who do you blame for the Reds' offensive woes?

It all starts with Brook Jacoby. I hate how the Reds approach ABs
September 29, 201312 yr Team is not fundamentally sound, they cannot manufacture a run for anything it seems like.
September 29, 201312 yr If you build a team around 6 guys that strike out a ton you are going to struggle to score on a consistent basis. Walt, come on down...
September 29, 201312 yr Blame? The owner or GM who didn't put a bat in LF during the off season or after Ludwig got hurt. You could have made the move of Chapman for Stanton, a young power hitter for a guy that has one pitch he can rely on 75% of the time and one that is 50/50. I know Broxton was hurt but the closer by committee was better than a platoon of Heisey, Paul, etc. It would be nice to see someone besides Meso or BP play with some energy. Votto is to soft and could use some swag.
September 30, 201312 yr In all seriousness, I have friends that have railed against Votto and Baker all season.
September 30, 201312 yr In all seriousness, I have friends that have railed against Votto and Baker all season. Bakers two hitter is the most to blame if we want to say its the offense. Walt is to blame partially too as GT pointed out. I'm blaming the medical staff b/c all pitchers injuries end up far worse than what they say.
September 30, 201312 yr How does Walt Jocketty skate while Dusty gets eaten alive? Even though I believe Dusty shares a big part of it, I agree with you on Jocketty too. He could have done more to make their situation better.
