I mean here we are with the season not even over yet, and the playoffs about to start, and we are already playing the blame game. What happens if they get hot and win the series? This club has hired one of the best GM's around, and they have shown they are committed to winning baseball games. Just for those who have followed the Reds, check out the opening day lineups the 3 years before Jocketty (05-07). Since then we have gotten to see Scott Rolen, Brandon Phillips, Votto, etc etc. And whether you like Dusty or not would you rather have Dave Miley, Jerry Narron, or Pete Mackanin? So i for one say thank you to the Reds for what they have given us the last couple years. Because they are bad fans....... Seriously, win a playoff series. That's all I want right now.

Not true....That'd be considered a successful season. Anything short of that, and this season is a disappointment. The Reds were a trendy WS and NLCS pick at the beginning of the season. Anything short of the NLCS is underachieving.

September 30, 201312 yr The Reds can very clearly get hot and win the World Series if Latos is healthy. SF has proven that all it takes is great pitching and a couple guys getting hot to win. They probably won't play a lot of games where the winning team scores 5 runs or more so one Bruce monster run could actually do it.

October 1, 201312 yr If you build a team around 6 guys that strike out a ton you are going to struggle to score on a consistent basis. Walt, come on down... I agree too many missed opportunities at the plate, but I think it is on the manager to get creative and manufacture runs especially with the pitching staff the Reds have.

How many important innings did Chapman go in that huge series against Pittsburgh last weekend or in the Wild Card round? How many innings did David Price go in TB's? Who is starting for St. Louis today that was used as a closer for a short stretch in a playoff run but went straight to starter after that season? Here is a blog saying that 75 different pitchers have led teams in saves the last 5 years. There are 30 teams so there have been 150 save leaders. Ok, that makes sense. The fact of the matter is we had no hitting down the stretch whatsoever. Who deserves the blame? The front office in my opinion. This team was practically dying for them to pickup a bat or a reliever at the deadline. What do they do? Watch the Pirates pickup a bunch of guys and prepare for the playoffs.
October 3, 201312 yr Several have talked about moving Chapman to a starter, it should have already happened. How many more wins would Chapman have accounted for over this past season had he been a starter vs the other pitchers that did start?
October 3, 201312 yr David Price hasn't pitched an inning in the playoffs yet... He pitched 9 in game 163. I'll take his innings pitched in this years over Chapman's the last two years.
