    • Yes, the game counts and I think he's one of the best players in the league.

    • No, he hasn't played enough games yet and that isn't the way you pick the team.

He's hitting .250 in his last 4 games. Clearly not much of a sample, but that's almost 20% of his total ABs. Once he starts seeing teams a second time, his average will fall. By the time the All-Star game comes around, he'll probably be under .300 IMO.

He'd currently have to go 0-51 to drop his average below .300. He better get started if he's going to get below .300 by the All-Star Game.

May not end up happening by the break, but it's going to sooner or later.....No way can he maintain anything close to his .560 BABIP. Just isn't possible. Miggy is only like .450 BABIP and he's a hell of a lot better than Puig.

I do not care either way. I will say Puig being in the game makes it more interesting and more likely people will tune-in which baseball should like.

While the All-Star game is an exposition, there are implications with the home field advantage. But for everyone that says it is a joke for baseball to accept Puig as NL player, I think it is equally or more so a joke that every team is required to have a player represented. Talk about undeserving. How is Puig less deserving than some middle reliever for the Royals with a 5.6 ERA?

I say make him one of the 4 the fans can vote on after the starters and reserves are named.

There will probably be some injury replacements as well.

Probably, but as a manager I would still name a player like Bruce that has been playing on a ML roster for more than a month.

I think the final fan vote is the best way to go.

Dont think Harper should have been in last year, and dont think Puig should be either. I understand that this game is must win, but it would be a shame to replace somebody that has been performing at a high level for 3 months than a guy who only has a month under his belt. If Puig keeps playing like this there will be many more all star games in his future. He just doesn't deserve to be in this one.

Good idea! :thumb:

Based on what? Miggy has done it longer but does that mean he is in fact better? Who's to say Puig may not be better when we look back in a few years? What has Puig done/or not done to make you think he is worse than Miggy or anyone else. I'll admit 100+ at bats is a small sample but what about those 100+ at bats makes you think he is worse?

0-4 with the Golden Sombrero tonight.

Bum, lol

Because Cabrera is far and away the best player in the game right now, and is on pace to go down in history as potentially the greatest overall offensive player to ever play the game. After 100 ABs we're ready to put Puig on that level, already?

Here's something to keep an eye on with the greatest player of all-time.

He's faced two teams twice now, San Diego and San Francisco.

The 1st time vs. SD he went 5-12 (.417), his second time facing them he went 4-16 (.250).

The 1st time vs. SF he went 6-12 (.500), his second time facing them he went 3-13 (.231).
