Puig not making the All Star game and only being allowed in through a last minute fan vote shows just how stupid baseball is at this point. One of the most electric players this season so far isn't allowed in the All Star game because he only played the month of June? You kidding me? This is why baseball sucks and why baseball loses more fans yearly than the other sports. He's the only reason for the casual fan to even watch the game. It cracks me up how the 'purists' are in such a tizzy about Puig playing in the All Star game that 8 people are going to watch. #KeepPuigout. #voteforFreddie. All Star games in all sports are flawed. Period. Dwight Howard started for the Western Conference in the NBA. All Star games are dumb as long as the fans decide who goes and then Bruce Bochy didn't have the balls to put Puig on the team because the 'purists' wouldn't have it. That's weak. Baseball sucks. It's such an elitist sport I'm surprised blacks can still play it.

No way. What is your favorite sport to watch? That is the answer to who has the best All Star game out of any professional league.

I love watching football the most but Pro-Bowl sucks.

On the contrary, I think the ridiculousness of every team being represented comes up every year. Just yesterday I heard Colin Cowherd spend a good 15 minutes on how dumb that rule is. So yes, I do think people recognize that.

This rule is 10 times dumber than trying to decide if Puig makes the roster.

Not only the "elitists" and "purists" feel he shouldn't be in. He didn't get voted in by the fans in the first place and the last I saw he was also losing the final vote by the the fan's.

Wasn't on the original ballot for the fans to vote on...probably hurt him getting voted in, in the first place..

I love the NBA and I enjoy that All Star game thoroughly. Baseball's sucks because they try so hard to play everybody and close games in the 7-9th innings are decided by Royals and Astros. The starting pitchers pitch for 3 innings and they are done. This game 'matters' but everybody has to play so obviously it doesn't matter too much.

Just stupid.

He wasn't on the original ballot. My point is that Bochy should have put him on the roster with manager's picks but so many elitist and purists were against it so he didn't. Can't disrespect the game now can he?

Weak.

Maybe Bochy didn't think he deserved it. Although its an all-star game with it meaning something it's no more about the fans than any other regular season game.

They are playing for home field not so fans can see some player who's only played a month.

I guess the other thing to is that we are trying to determine if Puig, or any other 35 game wonder, is as every bit as deserving as the last person on the bench. It is not as if this person is coming in at the expense of Miguel Cabrera. I do not think his presence will be the difference in the NL winning or losing the game. If you are trying to assemble the best team, then do away with fan voting all together and requirement to take a representative from each squad.

If Puig played for Bochy he'd be on the team without hesitation.

Only in baseball are players penalized for being too good too soon.

No, it's people are realistic.

This reminds me of the whole Jeremy Lin fascination. Guy sucked whole career, then had about 15 or so good/great games and then he's talked about like he's Kobe or something. Now he's average and the Rockets tried trading him.

Baseball is a long season to be based off of just 1 month.

Bad example. His whole career consisted of 1 year. Plus Lin was added to the NBA All Star game festivities after his 10 game outburst. He was added to the Rising Stars game when Shaq drafted him to his team even though Lin wasn't one of the players to choose from.

I just voted for Freeman another 25-30 times....Think I may do another 50 or so this evening. #VoteFreddie :D

I still think people are confusing with how good Puig will be compared to his case for making the all star game this season. Two separate things. Any person knows he will not be as good as he has been the past 35 games, but knowing that should it disqualify him?
