He just needs to learn to play MLb baseball. He's probably used to Cuban baseball where he can do whatever he wants.

I think I would take a player that is hot as hell going into the all star game. Let's not act like Freeman is a seasoned veteran. He's in his 3rd year and hasn't exactly lit it up. Freeman will be lucky to have an at bat in this game. If your best argument is the team needs Freeman to bring home the win then this argument is over.

Freeman is a good experienced player, even if it's just 3 years, and has played really well this year. I'd rather have him in the clutch than Puig.

And the answer is still a resounding no. Hell he's not even the best outfielder on his own team, let alone one of the top 5-6 in the NL. So regardless of how many games he's played or hasn't, the answer is still no, because he's not good enough to make it over those other guys.

Puig is an absolute stud. He bugs me when he's playing a team I like, but just a blast to watch. When I wake up, Dodgers are always a box score I look up and will always watch Puig highlights.

 

Puig, Tulo, Stanton are the 3 most fun position players to watch in baseball right now.

So was looking at some stats today and got to thinking about Puig. I looked at his numbers this season (outstanding production of a .241 avg, 4 HR, 14 RBI, and a .343 OBP), then remembered this thread.

He's been injured this season hasn't he? He's coming off of an all-star season in which he put up a .382 OBP and .863 OPS and he's only 24. It would be different if he were healthy and put up those numbers. Given his skill set I'd say you'll see a return to form when he's completely healthy.

 

On a side note if the Dodgers have soured on him he would be a nice return in a Johnny Cueto package. The Dodgers aren't going to trade Seager or Urias but Puig is signed for the next 3 seasons for a total of $24.6 million with a year of arbitration following that. That would be very affordable for his type production and his power would most likely take off as he reaches his prime years--especially in GABP.

He has been injured this year yes. Those numbers are in 49 games. Also, I typo'd his average. It's .261, not .241.

 

Regardless if you look at his post All-Star numbers last year and his numbers this season in his last 101 games he's hitting .268 with 8 HRs and 31 RBIs. That doesn't scream "stud" to me.
