    • Yes, the game counts and I think he's one of the best players in the league.
      35%
    • No, he hasn't played enough games yet and that isn't the way you pick the team.

I'd say enough to be qualified for league leader in statistics.

How about veteran players that make the team with poor stats and have missed half of the season due to an injury, but fans vote them in anyway?

That irritates the crap out of me. I love the Cardinals but will not vote for them if they don't deserve to be there.

I'm with you on that.

FWIW I completely understand where your coming from in this thread...and to some point I agree with what your saying.

What percentage of the games would a rookie have to play to deserve to make the team in your opinion, or does no rookie deserve to ever make the team?

I actually thought about not having rookies in the all-star game but maybe having some sort of rookie challenge or a type of game.

If they are to be in the game I would think they'd need to be called up by May 1st.

My thing is that baseball is hard to tell about players given a small sample size. Look at Dontrelle Willis, Jeff Francouer, etc.

It's an All-Star game, not a half-year wonder game.

And it meant absolutely nothing. Just like it would matter absolutely nothing if Puig makes it.

For the record I could care less since I loathe fan voting for All-Star games and rarely watch any of them. But like every other All-Star game the process to select the players is majorly flawed. Trying to act like letting him in would be some kind of travesty to the process is what is laughable.

Word up.

Exactly, he was added to all the events and now look at him. He's not an all-star.

There are such things as 1-time All Stars. I didn't say put him in the Hall of Fame. I said put him in the All Star game based on what he has done in his first 35 games as an MLB player.

And the NBA wasn't hurt one bit by adding Lin to the Rising Stars game.

How about veteran players that make the team with poor stats and have missed half of the season due to an injury, but fans vote them in anyway?

Hey, if Puig is voted in by the fans, so be it. He wasn't, so he doesn't deserve to be there.

Fans are stupid. :D

If the game was meaningless then sure, whatever. BUT it does mean something and I'm sure the players probably want experienced players fighting for home field instead of some guy who has only played 30 games or so.

Sure it didn't hurt to put Lin in the game but he isn't an all-star nor a rising star. So in that regard just put in anyone who has a great stat stretch of 15 games or so.

The system is flawed for how the whole thing is put together anyway. MLB needs to fix it and make it clear cut.

Apparently the FANS don't want him there, if so he'd be voted in.

Well he is second right now in a fan vote..

Well he is second right now in a fan vote..

Then he's the first loser.

Then he's the first loser.

Unless he takes over the #1 spot in which case Freddie Freeman would probably be the first loser.

As Hammertime said...fans are stupid. Fans are voting out of spite to keep him out. That's why baseball sucks. Who the hell is Freddie Freeman?

Please tell me you didn't just ask who Freddie Freeman is? :ohbrother:
