Can You Dunk?

Featured Replies

Not being blessed with height (5'10"), or large hands, dunking a basketball was never an option. I could however throw a tennis ball down with authority, and could occasionally flush a volleyball. Adjustable backboards however were a godsend. Drop it down to 9 foot, i could throw it down. 8 foot, I became Dominque Wilkins.

Not if I have my snowsuit on.

Even without the snowsuit, I'm just a tiny bit skeptical.

:lol2:

I'm pretty inconsistent on my finishes, but I can dunk on occasion. Haven't done it in a game though, and probably won't until I develop some consistency. I don't play enough anymore to gain that consistency though. Luckily, I've still got a few prime years left in me.

A bucket list thing I have never done nor will ever do. Maybe that shouldn't be a bucket list thing, because it is not a reality.

I never had the type of explosive jumping ability to dunk. The best I could do was just touch a rim without a basketball.

I do wonder though if I had centered my workouts around plyometric activities when I was younger if I could have done it. Plyo never really took off around here until I was exiting college years.

I could dunk in HS. My only measurable basketball skill was my vertical. The rest, not so much. Now, I would be in traction if I tried.

I could dunk in HS and foul with best of them. Couldn't shoot worth a squirt of urine. I was the Dennis Rodman of the squad. Dunk now? NO WAY. Bad ankles and two torn hamstrings, I'm lucky if I can pick my feet to walk up stairs.

I was in 7th grade the 1st time I dunked.

Unfortunately the mini tramp the cheerleaders used was never allowed in games.

There's no doubt that you could have at least gotten close. Like I said in my post above at 38 I'm closer then I ever was in high school or in my 20's. My vertical has improved since starting crossfit. Now I'll never get to the point of dunking but pretty sure I will eventually get the rim.

I could in high school but it wasn't pretty. I traveled every time...I could get one down if the perfect oop was thrown. I've got huge hands and a long wing span so that helped.

Ten years later and 50 pounds heavier, not a chance. I'd be lucky if I could get rim right now.

I'm just shy of 5' 6" and my name is not Spud Webb or Muggsy Bogues. So no.

Reminds me of a story.

I wrestled in high school (the "other" winter sport). I stunk at basketball, and in a school with 2100 kids in 3 grades, I wasn't likely to make the basketball team even if I was inclined to try out. I couldn't dunk, but I was a whiz with the whizzer.

Anyway, the best wrestler on our team was as strong as an ox and marginally smarter than one. He and I were in the same gym class one day and he landed awkwardly on the mat after trying something goofy on the mini-tramp.

Later that afternoon when the wrestling coach coach asked him why he was sitting out practice, he said - this is the truth - "I sprained my head".

Only with the turbo button and xbox controller.

Same here but even at 40 I can still get the rim.

Forgot to add that I'm 5'11
