Can You Dunk?

Featured Replies

Just curious- Dr. J can still dunk at 63. How many BGPers can (or could in their prime) dunk a basketball on a regulation 10' goal?

I could dunk a volleyball- my hands were too small to palm a basketball and couldn't dunk with two hands. Now I'm about 80lbs heavier Than I was in high school and college. Only thing I dunk is the occasional Oreo cookie.

I could in HS on a good day. Only got a few down. Most at Campbell County Middle school. That gym floor is a trampoline. No chance now.

I couldn't dunk if I jumped off of the top of the backboard.

I'm old and fat. No. When I was young, I was young and fat, still no. Just no.

Could back when.

Not any more.

I could dunk in high school and college. Now, I'm really good at shooting and drinking beer.

Same here but even at 40 I can still get the rim.

Possibly can. Need to try. Next year's student-faculty game may be the place.

A couple of years after HS when I was playing 4 or 5 nights a week I got to where I could dunk, but not without traveling. Best I could ever do in a game was to tap my class ring off of the rim on a finger roll. Haven't dunked since I was 20, right before I got hit by lightning. Wasn't able to play for a couple of months due to heart being knocked out of rhythm and was never able to dunk again as my playing decreased significantly (primarily due to work).

Excuses, excuses...

Nope, but I'm 5'9". Can get closer now at 38 then I could in high school though.

I could when I was a sophomore in high school. That same year I I had my ankle twist so bad it touched the floor. Got back to being able to dunk my senior season but not nearly as good as when I was a sophomore.
