Late last year he tried heroin for the first time because he let a friend talk him into it, never dabbled in drugs before. He was found dead the next morning in his bedroom. He was only 20 to 22 years old I believe. So sad.

April 1, 201313 yr Since my last post my friend was arrested for trafficking and possesion of Heroin. I hate to say it but this might be the thing that saves his life.
April 2, 201313 yr A friend of mine buried his step-daughter last month. Apparently it's been spreading down 71 to Louisville. Some dealrs even give the first hit for free knowing they will have a repeat customer. It's amazing what that drug does to your body and even more amazing that it's near impossible to get decent help for it.

I don't know of anyplace that says " hey, come on over right now."

April 3, 201313 yr Was talking to a good friend who is a nurse at St. E over the weekend and I brought up heroin because of this thread. He said its awful in NKY. Said that they deal with about 2-3 overdoses a day.

April 5, 201313 yr Most of the overdoses that hospital receives in patients are going to be treated with naloxone as it helps antagonize the effects of heroin. As I'm currently in pharmacy school there has been discussion about possibly allowing known drug users to carry some naloxone around or have their family members have it just because the fact it could mean the difference in saving their lives if they are quick enough. However its a big issue of debate because some argue that it could promote more usage of drugs because the abuser knows he has a "fallback" if he/she screws up. Its a slippery slope although I'd say I'm in favor of patients or families having that on hand.
