What "Normal" Food Can You Not Stand?

Featured Replies

You have a friend down the street you need to introduce to vegetables. His fear of irrational fear of broccoli iand all other things green, is only surpassed by his fear of squirrels.
Baby steps.... baby steps.

Took a while, but I got him to try Indian and Middle Eastern food. I don't want him to get skittish and revert.

Let's pray that there are no such things as green squirrels.

Only the Irish ones on St. Patrick's day.
Hot, fresh biscuits and honey...pretty much nothing better in the world. Everytime I eat them, I'm transported back to my childhood and my grandmother's kitchen. In my mind I'm 6 years old again. :D

I used to think I hated brussels sprouts. But a couple years ago I tried some fresh brussels sprouts sauteed, then seared and tossed with walnuts and gorgonzola cheese. I like brussels sprouts now. :D

Way back in the day my (then future) wife and I went with one of her roomies to Jamboree, Kentucky. For those of you still in the dark, that's a part of the Phelps greater metropolitan area in Pike County.

First morning there a plate of steaming biscuits was served, along with a big bowl of really dark brown unidentifiable stuff. Turns out it was chocolate gravy. Never had had it before, never had it since; but it was evidently a staple in that household.

Liver is repulsive and I can't handle coconut.

Spaghetti and meatloaf

Your supposed to have spaghetti and meatballs, not meatloaf.:D

Do I have "normal" foods I don't like? Not really.

*This next part is specifically for Randy.*

I really enjoy just about everything and the simple fact that I have such varied and delicious foods available to me daily makes me exceedingly happy.

Not even bean soup, french onion, crab or lobster bisque?

No way.

I've seen liver and Brussels sprouts mentioned a few too many times. Nobody eats that nasty stuff any more, and it definitely doesn't qualify as "normal." As I've gotten older I can tolerate Brussels sprouts, but that garbage my mom tried to tell me about "it tastes just like broccoli" was a load of hooey. Broccoli's good; Brussels sprouts not so much. Liver is awful.

Olives, on the other hand, are a common addition to pizzas, and they are freakin' disgusting, with a way of making everything they touch taste like olives. Yuk. I honestly feel like I've missed nothing by having never tasted a martini.

Brussel Sprouts......good.

Beef Liver......very good.

Chicken Liver......okay.

Olives......fantastic.

I do not like any green vegetables or any condiments. There are only a couple of vegetables I like. And only a few fruits I like. By the way, my cholesterol, blood pressure and every blood count is normal. I admit my taste buds are weird. I wish they were different, it would make life a little easier.

I have to wonder how regular some of you folks are who eschew vegetables. Once a week? Every 10 days?

Not sure what vegetables have to do with it. Never been a problem. I just do not like vegetables.
