What "Normal" Food Can You Not Stand?

Featured Replies

I've been following the thread for a bit and been struggling to come up with a "normal" food I won't shove down my gullet. I'm bound to think of something, though.

I also wonder how many of the people who've said they hate things like garlic and onions know how many dishes those ingredients are in. You can hardly make anything without onions.

I've been quietly thinking the same thing. There are very few entrees that comes out of my kitchen that don't have some sort of fresh onion/garlic, cooked onion/garlic, or onion/garlic powder in it.

Hate raw onions, love cooked onions

Hate Fried Chicken, but for some reason I can eat some chicken wings

Hate olives of any kind

Sweet potatoes - yuck

Liver - No Mom, it doesn't taste like steak!

Love Miracle Whip on sandwiches but if I'm making a homemade dressing it's gotta be mayo.

Cool Ranch Doritos are the only ones I really don't like very much.

Seek help my friend!

They should be one of the food groups!

It is. Falls under the "salty snacks" group. Others include:

Dough and frosting

chewy nougat center

crispy, crunchy batter-covered

If I didn't know you, I would have thought you had a bit much of the giggle smoke after that post. Sounds like an attack of the munchies.
Nope just couldn't sleep Buying a new car today

Growing up I drove my parents insane how picky I was. Now, you would be hard pressed to find something I won't eat. For those of you who have seen me, I am sure you will find that shocking.

Liver - not my favorite but I will eat it.

Goetta - overrated in my opinion but not bad.

Onions - as long as they are cooked they compliment many dishes.

Garlic - heavenly

Spam - not sure if this counts as normal food but I can handle it.

Vienna Sausages - Love them on Ritz Crackers

Brunsweiger (however you spell it) - LOVE IT

Sushi - yummy, just don't go crazy with the wasabi

Sardines - their tolerable, prefer other fish

Anchovies - their OK

Artichokes (not the dip, Artichokes raw) - a pain in the butt to eat with the peeling but if you make it that far it is OK.

Mrs. TAC is a great cook but she hates onions. She realized if she chops them into tiny pieces she could tolerate them. So now I hear that pampered chef hand chopper beating on the counter and I know she is whipping up another tasty dish.

I didn't realize Dorito's and the like were considered "normal" food. Don't like any chips with flavor on them. Powdered cheese....Pffftt!

I just want to offer my prayers for those of you who don't like pasta, tomato sauce, garlic and onions. I simply feel the utmost pity for your bland lives. :D

Beets.

Raw fish, though I will eat raw oysters, if I have enough hot sauce.

I love oatmeal cookies, oatmeal bread, and oatmeal snacks. I cannot eat cooked oatmeal. I've tried it plain and flavored. It doesn't matter. Reminds me of vomit.

Other than that, I can eat about anything. Which explains the way I look. :D

Brussel Sprouts are one of my favorite vegetables, as is broccoli, artichoke hearts, and cauliflower. Those veggies and edamame are mainstays of my diet.

Love to take cooked cauliflower, mash it up, and add either butter and pepper or hot sauce. I can make a meal out of that. Same goes for peas and carrots.

I don't know if this qualifies as normal but horseradish.

I would starve before I would eat horseradish.

When evacuating from the Yalu River after the Chinese invaded North Korea, Dad's platoon was cut off from the body of his company and rations ran out. Dad dug up this root that looked like a radish. He tasted it. Though hotter than a radish, was eatable, so he ate it. Turned out to be a horseradish. It gave him the hiccups.

Here they are, trying to avoid enemy patrols and Dad's hiccuping his tail off. The platoon lieutenant threatened to shoot him.

One of Pop's favorite stories.

Love Pickled Pigs feet and Pickled Baloney , Love Brussels Sprouts and asparagus especially grilled . Eat tomatoes like an apple and love to pop the cherry tomatoes like a snack . Love limburger cheese . Oh and hot sauce and hollandaise sauce on scrambled eggs . Hot sauce on Mac and cheese too ! Love Grits . fried Eggs over hard ,the yoke has to be solid . Love Apollinaris Spring Water from Germany

Love all of that.

I'll try anything, once. I've had chocolate covered ants and grasshoppers, tripe, beef tongue, bloody tongue, and a bunch of other foods I probably don't remember. One of my grandfathers loved pork brains and eggs. Not my favorite, but not bad. The other made a killer turtle soup. A good size snapper, meant a great meal.

Don't try to smoke gator tail. It gets rubbery. Rattlesnake does taste like chicken and Mountain Oysters are really good.
