Hard to believe that a team with four NBA first rounders can't play better than this.

How does the best shooter on the team get just 2 shots?

You can recruit talent, but that talent better fill a role and be a piece. Individually the talent on this team is very good, the pieces just do not fit at all.

Not trying to be a butt head but maybe that talent was over rated or maybe they just have not got it yet.

Missing a few components, most notable are a leader and a dead eye shooter from deep. Seems like Harrow has come back strong while Archie has been less than stellar.

Outside of Noel I would not put my job on anyone else. Maybe Goodwin but he could easily just be a guy that hangs around the league depending on how he develops.

And it is probably going to be a must win for the resume...

It already was though going into TA&M game right?

Nerlens was outstanding today. Most of the attention will be on the loss (understandably), but I loved seeing him all over the place today.

Incredible performance by Turner.

As others have said, UK could struggle to even make the tourney this year.

To a lesser extent, yes...

4 NBA first rounds that have not developed chemistry play like this.

Hats off to Elston Turner...one of the all time great individual performances at Rupp Arena.

Also, Nerlens Noel put up historical numbers. After the game, he said "Cal has put us on the right path but we have to take accountability and pick it up a notch..."

Kentucky has a few weeks to go but they'll be fine. Just wait...they'll pull it together.

I have to disagree with the first sentence.

Nerlens Noel did not lose this game. In fact the greatest tragedy is that his talent and effort is being wasted by the other "super frosh" around him. Noel looked like he wanted to be there from the beginning. Look at his stat line again and rethink the game flow.

:thumb: I will certainly agree with you on Noel. I stated that he did some good things today, probably should have made it clearer that he did play well. I believe that the other freshmen are good, just not as consistent as Noel yet.

I think that one point we all can agree on is that all on this team need to improve and mature. I believe the #1 problem is that no leader has emerged from this group. There were players with experience on Cal's previous three teams and that proved very valuable. This team will be much better by tourney time imo. I just hope that they start getting more consistent soon and not dig too big of a hole to climb out of before then.

Well said, I agree on all points.

I couldn't agree more. In Cal I trust.

There is talent on this team, but the pieces don't exactly fit.

UK lacks a true three man and a four man.

Add in the lack of depth and you have a recipe for ups and downs.

One of the big issues they have is there is not a dependable go to scorer. No one to throw it into the post and get a bucket or draw fouls. WCS and Noel are adventures at the foul line so hammering the post comes with liabilities.

Today, Elston Turner was simply feeling it and he hit some shots that were guarded well, but credit to him he drained them. Credit his teammates who stepped up in the clutch.

Noel was tremendous today and unfortunately his play will be overshadowed by Turner. ESPN stats showed that no player since 1996-97 season has had a stat sheet stuffing performance like Noel had today.

Poythress still goes through the motions and it is frustrating. The one line that killed me was Wiltjer's. His line showed he just ran around the court for 19 minutes. You can fault Cal for this but who else can he pull from the bench?

They have to keep chopping wood and Cal has to find a lineup combination that can get him some consistency on offense. Noel and WCS together limit options on offense. Wiltjer and Mays on the floor together offer little help on defense and rebounding.

Talent and potential there but the pieces don't exactly fit.

Ole Miss looked good tonight and UK heads there in a week and a half. That could potentially get ugly with Holloway in the paint and Marshall Henderson pulling the trigger from the outside.
