January 12, 201313 yr Author Elston Turner was incredible. 40 points 6/10 3-pointers Hats off to the man. Even the Kentucky crowd cheered his performance.
January 12, 201313 yr Looking at the game as a whole, Turner beats a lot of teams today with what he did. However, very disappointing watching the last 5 minutes. This team does not know how to close out a tight game. Still a work in progress. We should expect 3 or 4 more losses, even in the terrible SEC. It is all about watching for progress in each game. Today, I really liked Noel's performance offensively.
January 12, 201313 yr Author Noel: 15 points (4/6 from the field, 7/8 FTs) 11 Rebounds 7 Blocks (UK only had 7) 4 Steals (UK only had 4) 6 Assists 1 Foul
January 12, 201313 yr It seemed to me that UK really struggled when Noel and Stein played together today.
January 12, 201313 yr Wiltjer (19 minutes) 0 Points (0/2 shots) 2 Rebounds 1 Turnover He has completely lost his confidence
January 12, 201313 yr Couple of observations IMO. - Noel plays 110% all the time - The team is not having fun - This team does not mesh well together - Wiltjer is a victim of the team not having fun IMO. Last year the team enjoyed the hype and lived it up, thus is fed into other players giving off more confidence. This year is the complete opposite. Calipari is beyond frustrated and disappointed with this team. However, I'm not giving up hope just yet but this is getting serious. Right now this team is a bubble team. They are not playing well and they could have pulled out the victory today but poor defense and missed assignments was the downfall. Yes Turner scored 40 but IMO he did not beat them. This team has to decide what they want, and how they want to finish this season. Noel is great, and out hustles everyone on this team, kinda sad that no one feeds off of it and follows him.
January 12, 201313 yr This team is simply not good. I keep thinking they will start to improve, but I just haven't seen it yet.
January 12, 201313 yr Love seeing this one go like this even if I did not think it would. How do you beat Kentucky and lose to Southern?
January 12, 201313 yr Calipari is beyond frustrated and disappointed with this team. I forgot where I hear Cal say it, but it was about 3 weeks ago. He said that he, the coaching staff or fans cannot get this to team to have "swag", he said they have to figure that out on their own, and so far they have no swag. As you said, no fun, no confidence!
