Who has the best popcorn?

Featured Replies

This thread is awesome. I'll weigh in when I have more time. The best popcorn I have ever had came from Nelson County. Had it in December 2010.

LexCath has good popcorn but they put it under a heat lamp so it is not as fresh. If it were fresh it'd be awesome. Bryan Station has some pretty good popcorn. Theirs was fresh and it was inhaled properly. Those are the only Lexington area places I have been.

I'll weigh in with more places and ratings on Sunday.

This is a great thread, i always say i tour the state testing popcorn in high school gyms, it has been a few years, but Scott COunty was outstanding, at a Ashland football game this year, i rated that very high, had a bag of popcorn at Holmes last night, it is one of the best in the ninth region, a few places still sell the mico-wave bags, this should be out lawed, ha.

Silver Grove. Nice, clean gym. Walk in, and the popcorn smell grabs you right away. We all bought a bag. Walk to our seats. Then we all looked for a garbage can to throw it away. Painfully salty! That was over a month ago. Hope it's different now. It sure smelled amazing!

The best popcorn I've ever had is from the Hazard's gym. Only place I've had two bags during a game.

Hot dogs at football games and popcorn at basketball games for me!

I don't do popcorn at games. I probably haven't had popcorn at a game since I played 5th grade b-ball. In other words, about 40 years.

Slow basketball night if popcorn is the main topic, lol

My problem with popcorn at most high school games is it is way, way, way, too salty. I don't ever salt any food I eat (it usually has enough salt in it from the cooking process) , but popcorn needs a little salt....but VERY little.

I suppose they want to sell more pops.

NO QUESTION!! Mason Co. has the best popcorn bar none. Definitely a two bagger every time I go.

Just had popcorn at Ryle. Pretty good flavor, just wasn't hot enough.

Was thinking of my experiences in Lexington and I remember thinking Station and Lex Cath had solid concessions. Tates Creek is up there too, so I'd have to agree with Purple Pride. The only Lexington gyms I haven't been to are: Dunbar, Sayre, LCA.

My vote is for Walton-Verona. I had 2 bags the other night. My mother-in-law even ate some!

Trimble Co. is a close second, but Anderson Co. gets my#1 . Top quality plus it comes a larger brown bag. Mmmmmm, good.

TU coach Brian Lane thought Pendleton County popcorn was so good!

See Augusta Pendleton County thread.

Ryle. It even made the scouting report. Never had the famous Mason Co. Popcorn though!

I rank Paris 4 out of 10. Could have been a 5 if warmer.
