2012 KY AP All-State Football Team

Featured Replies

I will help explain this again this year, because it is truly a messed up process: each media outlet in the state is allowed to nominate 15 players no matter how many teams are in your area. Our area coaches nominate 10 players (it's done by vote and so there were 11) and I added four names to it. Then those who nominated are allowed to vote. I hate the process, because no information on players is shared, some areas that have only a few teams still get to nominate 15 players. Makes no sense for our area, Louisville and Lexington.

There are a few of us who are trying to get this process changed.

Thanks. I knew something wasn't right about this list. I think the Best of the Bluegrass was a better representation of who the best players in the state are.

If it can't be done right, then it shouldn't be done at all imo. What a flawed process. Wow.

Nice to see Cole Mosier Walton make honorable mention.

I am extremely suprised that Richie Whitford (HHS) 6'3 295lbs didn't get at least honorable mention offensive line. He was the most dominate lineman I saw all year. He had more pancakes than anyone I can remember..He was nasty!!!

Exactly. I don't get these teams.

Congratulations to all and especially White, Jordan, Hatcher, Quick and Dawkins of Trinity. Where did QB Travis Wright of Trinity end up? I thought he had a sterling career at Trnity and was one of the best QB's in the state.

Congrats to all and especially to my 3 Birds... Great job guys, there was a day when the AP didnt play politics and put the best players regardreless of how many came from one team.

Back in the day Ricthie Whitford was a shoe in for sure as would a Quentin Murray at DB. Quentin didnt get the looks because quite frankly everybody went South when he went North and that happens with really good defensive guys, not sold ask ELDER..

Heck, I think the Reds put 7 starters on the 1975 Allstar team. Just sayin...

I've gone round and round with The AP on this for years and have given up on it. As Richard said, the fact that voters in major population areas like Louisville, Lexington and Northern Kentucky (or anywhere for that matter) can only nominate 15 players is absolutely ridiculous. Can you really tell me there are only 15 players from the Louisville area - ON A YEARLY BASIS - that merit no more than honorable-mention status? Once you get past Trinity and St. X, that leaves about 6 players to nominate. It's an absolutely ridiculous process.

2nd team had 2 QB's? 6 RB's? Weird. Bolin makes it based on what??

Wow. Just...wow.

One notable player missing from the list is Trinity's Daeshawn Bertram. He had a great year, and at the very least deserves to be on the honorable mention team. Was the best defensive player on the field in the KY vs Louisville game.

Travis Wright... an oversite the past 2 years considering the level of competition and what he was able to do on the field. I can't imagine his numbers if he had been able to play against scarecrow defenses.

Congrats to Tevin Slaughter from Somerset 1st Team, one of the hardest playing kids night in and night out, play after play that I have ever seen.

Congrats to Tyson Williams from Somerset HM at LB, wish you had been here longer.

Good Luck to both on your future where ever you end up.
