Highlands Quarterbacks 2 years in a row- First Team All-State

Congrats to Jonathan Jackson of Mayfield. He is a great young man who leads by example.

Another player missing that may be an oversight IMO is Aaron Morgan, DB Cooper.

 

Well first congrats to all the players on the list. Nothing against these players at all but how in the hell is Aaron Morgan not at least HM as a DB?!!!

 

All he did was tie for lead in interceptions in he nky area with 7 and cover arguably 2 of the best receivers in the State in Timmons and Fant. Gave up 1 Td the entire season in the State championship game off of a blown coverage.

 

Teams absolutely stayed away from him all year and the ones that didnt paid the price more offer than not. No disrespect to AJ Collins but even he will tell you he's not the best db on the Cooper team.

 

Whatever the process is for selecting these players by the it is severely flawed and needs to be fixed.

The more I look at this list and who's not on it it's makes the process look even more pitiful. I'll take Morgan and Fogle vs any other 2 cover corners in the State.

Both these players don't come off the field and neither of their teams would have had success without them.

 

AP needs to do their homework before casting their votes. Guess there's a reason why there's a COACHES poll when colleges get decide who is worthy of post season awards. Crazy.

One notable player missing from the list is Trinity's Daeshawn Bertram. He had a great year, and at the very least deserves to be on the honorable mention team. Was the best defensive player on the field in the KY vs Louisville game.

 

...and in several other games I saw T play this year. Due to him and the NG, was already in game-plan not to even bother running in A-gaps had we met them in finals this year.

I'm sure there are flaws in any of these selection systems but I wouldn't be ready to hang my hat on the the Coaches because they have shown just how bias they can be-Just ask Dalyn Dawkins

All I'm saying is this process is jacked up in the worst way. Whatever the system is and whoever is creating these "lists" needs to do just a little bit of homework at least.

 

It is what it is but those who study the game understand.

Lets just say that all the kids that were named were deserving, of course there are omissions, there always are. Gives us something to talk about. Congrats to Max Nussbaum, I know that he deserved to be named on the second team.

I think we all agree that it's flawed. However, I don't see how it can be any better.

 

As far as Morgan he's obviously very good but it sounds like you're in the same boat as me - how do we know?
