I am extremely suprised that Richie Whitford (HHS) 6'3 295lbs didn't get at least honorable mention offensive line. He was the most dominate lineman I saw all year. He had more pancakes than anyone I can remember..He was nasty!!!

That was the first name that I thought of when I looked at the team. I was thinking first team for him and he wasn't even named!!! :eek:

 

Congrats to all who were named. There will be debates about who is on what team, etc. but all the players named are surely very good players who worked hard and earned this recognition.

I believe this is AP writers from around the state. We discuss this every year when this team is announced because of controversial picks. In years past, some area's players have been underrepresented due to low participation by the voters. At first glance, the team seems better done than in recent years, although the Whitford oversight is glaring to me.

Another player missing that may be an oversight IMO is Aaron Morgan, DB Cooper.

I will help explain this again this year, because it is truly a messed up process: each media outlet in the state is allowed to nominate 15 players no matter how many teams are in your area. Our area coaches nominate 10 players (it's done by vote and so there were 11) and I added four names to it. Then those who nominated are allowed to vote. I hate the process, because no information on players is shared, some areas that have only a few teams still get to nominate 15 players. Makes no sense for our area, Louisville and Lexington.

There are a few of us who are trying to get this process changed.
