They're "statistical" in that they're a numerical result of a formula. But they have nothing to do with points spreads. Think of the entire group of teams from top (Covington Catholic, 137.3 rating) to bottom (Jenkins, 1.0). CovCath wouldn't be a 136.3-point favorite over Jenkins. CovCath is simply 136.3 points ahead in the rating number. I guess the number really has no actual "value" other than to give an indication of whether the team went up or down from week to week and who would be "favored" in a given matchup.

Believe what you want about the rankings, but the points are not meant to be a point spread. It's simply a numerical rating based on the formula.

Man, how long are you going to be bitter about it?

It's a darn shame Coach Johnson has to come on here and defend himself and his program because people think Waggener should be a state-championship contender by virtue of having two D1 prospects. Back-to-back 6-5 seasons is a darn-near miracle for that program when you consider where it was before Coach Johnson took over.

So you'd rather have one sportswriter (me) picking the All-State team than 90 coaches? -

All 7th Region Girls Team

Doesn't mean they deserved all-region honors. I mean, if that's the only criteria, just give out the awards before the season starts. -
All 7th Region Girls Team

There's absolutely ZERO chance there are "6-7 players" in the Seventh Region who are better than any of the 10 on that list. ZERO. I see two second-teamers that MAYBE have an argument to be first team. MAYBE. -
Central Hires Marvin Dantzler
Jason Frakes replied to Jason Frakes's topic in KY Football (High School)
I asked this question twice and never really got a good answer from him. In the story he sort of hinted that he's more focused as a coach when he's away from home in Louisiana. But why he chose Louisville, I'm not real sure. I do know that Central wasn't the only job in the city he pursued. -

Jamale Carothers named Mr. Football

Here's the story, plus the All-State football team from The Associated Press Bowling Green High School's Jamale Carothers named Kentucky Mr. Football

Every TV station, radio station and newspaper in the state that's a member of The Associated Press gets a vote. With that said, not many participate. If the weekly rankings are any indication, about 20 media members will cast a vote for Mr. Football.

Totally agree. I mean, it's a shame what's going on with the award. But the notion that the delay might hurt someone's recruiting is total hogwash.
