WC was the team calling it off and Highlands had a monster of a game in its place and made a very good decision to allow WC back on.

 

Had this slot been week 2 thru 5 Highlands would have opted out of the WC game and probably would have been nationally televised twice this yr.

Just real tough playing two games like Elder and another Elder caliber back to back in wks 9 and 10 headed into the playoffs.

Did they ever give you a reason as to why WC was calling it off? Because as I understood it Central was facing the prospect of having no game to play in week 10 before Ryle dropped Highlands and Central pounced. It was just days after Ryle dropped out that WC lined that up.

No reasons given other than some scheduling issues as you mentioned. I do know Dale was told "Yes" 3 times and "NO" 2 times by WC over 1 wk period.

 

You are correct that WC pounced at the opening but apparently they then realized an earlier offer agreed to play and not knowing this until later, WC accepted and then had to decline, accepted again and then declined a second time and finally was able to make sure the right hand knew what the left hand was doing and accepted.

 

Sounds like just a big conspiracy against Highlands if you ask me...:lol2:

I'm looking forward to the trip! Though if I'm honest, I'm more looking forward to the game in 2014. You know, when I don't have to drive all that way.

Sorry if this question has already been asked but, why does maxpreps have Highlands playing Christian Co. and in () Hopkinsville Ky on 8/23/2013 and not University Christian from Florida?

I'd like a full report on who I'll be watching this year from the QB, RB, WR, offensive/defensive line. Who will be the kicker/punter and will this be a stronger position for the Birds than last year?.....not that last year's kicker was bad.

Who do you expect to be in the backfield this year? I think everyone knows the answer to that question. To answer Loogy's question, take a look at the Board of Education minutes from this past Monday and you should be able to tell.

I'll be at Highlands tomorrow to do a video interview with Dale, Seth Hope, and Nick True for my BGP preview.

I am thinking we may see less running from the QB position this season. I gotta think the backfield starts with Harris and Hayes and goes from there. I fully expect to see Dougherty to kick and punt this year. Even if it might not begin that way it may end up that way. I can also see Dougherty getting some carries on Friday too, but if not, he will be top running option on JV. I expect to see more bone rattling hits from Cowboy Abner on the defensive side of the ball. Add in Hits from Wrobleski, Urlage, Murray, among many others. Hope will anchor a strong D-line and the father-son Scott Turner combo will lead a veteran O-line! I see Nick True to play good at TE. A couple of guys I am looking fwd to watching that played mostly JV last yr are Bo Hebel & Beau Hoge. Hebel has the ability to dominate on the line and Hoge was as exciting as it gets last yr on offense flashing some Hamblen like moves. I have been looking fwd to Houliston playing QB for a couple of seasons now as well!

 

The problem with a reply like mine is that this team has many other quality guys that will contribute that I failed to mention...Schweitzer, E. Allen, Saunders, Schoepf among them. Hopefully, JOAT, Sweep, or TDYballgame can pick up where I left off.
