I would venture to say some Highlands supporters might have their feelings hurt if they lined up against Ensworth. No pun intended but Ensworth is a different "bird". I had the opportunity to watch Ensworth play this year and they beat the birds 21-35 points. Im sure they reload just like Highlands every year. They toyed with Lex Cath this year. They could have scored 80+ if they wanted.

If this is true about the Florida team, it would be an historic occasion for Highlands football, as this would mark the first time Highlands would be playing a team from a state not bordering KY.

 

Hopefully this gets arranged and HHS has a full 10-game regular season. If true, I would be very interested to know how Highlands and University Christian (FL) got this arranged...

Highlands and Ensworth both scored 35 on Lex Cath in the first half, both totaled around 645 yards offense and gave up about 300 yards offense. This match-up would have been an interesting game to watch. If the statements on here are true{about Ensworth feeling Cov Cath is a better fit for them} you

have to wonder about a top 10 team saying thanks but no thanks, we want to play the guys that you beat twice.

 

If the Highlands-University Christian game comes off, what does Highlands gain? Other than filling out the schedule it seems like a lose-lose situation for the Bluebirds. For the 2012 season MaxPreps rated University Christian 94th in Florida and 1222 nationally(Boyle Co. was 1224). Florida has 8 classes for football, wiith 8A the biggest. We win, everyone says you were suppose to win, we lose everyone is saying what the heck happened there.

For what it’s worth, Ensworth losses their 2-time Division 2, Class AA Mr. Football award winning running back. He rushed for 6,300 + yards and 81 TDs in his career (2,600 + & 39 TDs in his senior year). Not saying that they won’t be a great team next year, but it’s hard to imagine replacing that kind of production.

I seem to recall that this kid really gashed LexCath last year. I think it was mentioned during the TV broadcast of the Ensworth-LexCath game that Ensworth is not a big school, and that several guys played both ways. Obviously, Ensworth was extremely good last year (and nationally ranked), but perhaps they have a more difficult time "reloading" compared to a much larger school like Trinity, and maybe they are anticipating a bit of a "down" year in 2013 (relatively speaking).

Like the other two or three top-level Division 2 Class AA schools here in Middle TN, they seem to "reload" each year. While they have less than 300 students (co-ed), they have a large metro area to "reload" from. I just don't think the type of player they featured last season comes along very often.

He's better than Frisk...and there hasn't been a Frisk at Highlands for some time. Don't know why they "dodged" the bluebirds, if thats what you insist they are doing. I would assume Ensworth will reload, albeit w/out Corn. There 2-3 backs were quite impressive as well. Would love to see this game happen, probably be a good one, but I doubt Ensworth is scared if that is being implied.

Great question, that I don't understand either. As a team from Tennessee, playing anyone other than Trinity has virtually no upside. Even though you and I know how good Highlands is, I'm sure Ensworth still sees the potential win as pointless, considering its against Kentucky football. A loss, well...that's just downright embarrassing.

Dale told the team today that this game is 99% done with a few details to work out.

 

Looks like the Birds are very close to filling their schedule...
