Played Devou Park the other day for kicks and giggles (only $20 & shady)..

I think Devou is a little decieving. The greens are very tight and the putts roll fast. A couple of short and narrow Par 4's and a very narrow medium distance Par 5. This course can sneak up on you a little bit. ITs a little tougher than it innitially appears to be.

That is fantastic!! Last year # 11 at Fox Run...turned left off the path..crossed the fairway into the rough...it had been drizzling which makes the rough like black ice...hit the brakes and did a full 360 and wound up 15 feet deep in the woods...it was terrifying...that type of incident happens to me about every other year.

My buddy flipped a cart at Highland on #16 coming down a steep hill on the cart path. There is a sharp almost 90 degree turn and they just resurfaced the path. It was after a heavy rain and the oil from the blacktop had risen due to the high temperatures. It was scary as his passenger got trapped under the cart and he had to leg press it up so he could escape. That is a very dangerous spot at Highland coming down the hill. I know Jay, the pro up there is looking into putting additional railings right along the pathway.

Played in the annual Midwest Bikini Team outing at Taylor Glen in Bethel OH. The course was awful but the sights were very very nice! We played great and shot 18 under with 4 eagles. We wound up in a tie for 1st and they had us go out to 18's fairway and and everyone hit a shot from 100 yards out the closest shot won. We hit one to 8 feet as our closest. Their 3rd guy skulls a ball that hits 30 yards short of the green and rolls up to 4 feet. It was an awful way to lose. The ball never got more than 15 yards in the air. Shortest course I've ever played other than par 3 courses. Played 5100 yards par 68 with 5 par 3's and only 1 par 5. We drove I believe 8 par 4's and made 3 of the 8 eagles. I'd highly recommend this outing to anyone that likes golfing with pretty young ladies.

Saturday. Some soupy areas and Grayson had over 5 inches of rain this weekend. I'd say it'll be perfect by Saturday. Greens were cut before the event, not too fast however, but they were also wet. Fairways are in good shape with only 2 of them under repair in small areas. The rough is ridiculous thick on a couple of holes.

I was there Saturday as well. I thought the fairways were awful. I understand they got a lot of rain Friday and Saturday morning, but it was like the rain just made the majority of them mud holes. Lots of bare spots/ground under repair. #2 and #5 seemed to be the worst. Everything else seemed decent. Greens were slow compared to what I'm used to, but were still fair and playable. I hope it's better the last week of September!

Looking for a decent but reasonable set of clubs for my son. He is 14 and a beginner. He hasn't played golf in a couple of years and he informs me he wants to join the golf team at school. I asked him about tryouts and he said they will take anybody, and his buddy joined last season even though he had only played golf once in his life, lol.

 

Anyway my son plays left handed, and is about 5'7 and 180lbs. Used is fine but where we live in Pike Co there is just no options.

 

I need some advice. I am not an avid golfer, I play about twice a year on a good year and my clubs are about 30 yrs old, lol.

2C, there are always some freaky (and frustrating for us right handed golfers) deals on left handed clubs. Seriously, I'd look on line. For less than you'd expect, you could pick up some clubs that are new because they've been overstocked.

I've gotten some good deals from Rockbottom Golf.

Golf Galaxy, Golf Smith all have overruns. I just got on Rockbottom golf because I've never heard of that one. Some good stuff there too.
