No clue. I also have the Razr Hawk Draw that is new. I don't like it at all. IF you fade/slice, it will help. I bought it hoping for a little draw. I got a duck hook:walk:

 

It doesn't show unless I'm playing down hill but I seem to be fading like a slice if that makes sense. Honestly I'm still trying to figure my feet out half the time but when I hit any thing with a left slant down hill, well I'm going down the hill more times than not.

Took group lessons at age 28. That would be 28 years ago - how time flies. I wish I had taken up the game much earlier. Never had an individual lesson.

I realized early on that I was never going to put food on the table playing golf so I don't spend a lot of money on the game and I play strictly for fun. Used to play a lot more than I do now - health issues and all that.

 

Best round I ever played was probably at Houston Oaks (Paris) 15 years ago or so. Only time I've ever seen the course; doubled 10 and 11 (fairway bunkers both times), and still shot 76.

 

I LOVE having the Golf Channel - can't wait for Thursdays to roll around each week. Bewteen coverage of golf across the pond, PGA, Champions, LPGA and the occasional Web.com (hard to get used to saying that) event; there's a lot of golf for an old retired guy like me to watch.

 

Right there with you sir, just didn't excite me like stiff arms and rebounds in high school because I was great at both. Now I wish I hadn't been great at both and appreciated Golf more, so do my knee's; both of them.

Unless you have a really high swing speed, don't go stiff shaft. A little more shaft flex and a little more loft go a long way for someone who isn't a gorilla and who rarely draws the ball.

See that's the thing I don't know what I am honestly. For the longest time I thought my lack of flexibility due to muscularity I just couldn't play (yes I know tiger benches 300). So I never played, now I'm about 4 years maybe 2 out of that mentality, still lot's of muscle but also lot's of uncertainty. I really don't know how to hit the ball, I rarely feel like I hit the ball with certainty.

How you hit the ball means everything when it comes to playing golf. For years I tried to swing and hit it as hard as I possibly could, and sometimes would have some rather embarrasing results. Finally after playing with some seniors I realized it was all about ball striking. No matter how muscular you are, if you can just start out trying to make good smooth contact with the ball everytime you can grow from there and start adding distance. Lots of bad things happen when you try to swing too hard, most often pulling your head off the ball causing a mis hit. Usually when I have a real bad miss hit I am looking up in the sky afterwards instead of where the ball was. I have concentrated on that every swing this year, keeping my head down on the ball through the swing and it has done wonders for me. As advanced as clubs are now you don't even really have to swing all that hard to get good distance, as long as your making good solid contact with the ball.

I holed one out from 105 yards yesterday for a birdie after hitting a bad drive and recovery shot on a long par 4 had 3 -3's on the back nine.

I don't really have a handicap for a course, not a 100% on handicaps anyway. I've never played with one before. I went to the driving range at Raven Rock today and hit the driver really well. Decided to play the front 9 before the storm came through. Doubled the first hole after having to take a drop. Hit a par on the second hole ( first one ever). It was a par 3 154yds. Used my 5 iron and dropped it right on the green, missed the birdie by about 3ft. Went +5 on the next hole, ended up finishing in the rain but I absolutely crushed the ball in the rain off the tee on #9.

 

First time I've played Raven Rock in a long time.

 

Ended up 18 over on the front 9. Not horrible for me since it was the first time I had played that course in over 6 years.

It's a really tough course. I've played well over 20 different golf courses in my young life and Raven Rock rates towards the top when it comes to difficulty. It is the type of course where you have to keep it in the fairway on every hole, with minimal room for error on any shot. Doesn't really favor long hitters because there aren't that many shots you can bomb without worrying about getting into a hazard or that is open enough to be able to bomb. Very technical course I guess you could say, have to really be able to play your irons and approach game. From the whites, most holes are hard to reach in regulation because of the layout. Much less the black tee's up there. The way the course is layed out, on a par 4 for say, you have to really put two very solid shots together to get into birdie position. Par is like birdie on many holes up there. Because of blind shots and unreachable distances because of hazards you really have to play your shots wisely and hit every one spot on if you ever have a hope of getting birdie. A lot of the par fours play to where you have to lay up instead of being able to go for it in two and it really makes it challenging, especially with narrow fairways.

Yeah I never play blacks either its hard enough as it is.
