July 30, 201214 yr I played Saturday at Jolly in awful conditions. Soaking wet and nothing had been cut in 3 days because of the rain. The greens were awful. I went 48/41 - no surprise my score got better as things started to dry out. I will be playing at Kincaid maybe while camping and Pendleton CC Wednesday. July 30, 201214 yr I have hate the past 2 weeks but I know it's necessary taking time off for the injury to heal. Still kills me how you can possibly have an injury that isn't effected by the gym but only the golf course.

July 30, 201214 yr Just got back from vacation in Michigan. Played 3 tremendous courses. Shot 81,84 and 87. Lost my driver for about a round and a half but scrambled well. All 3 courses were beautiful and had no homes on them which I love. Angels Crossing Golf Club | Golf Course Vicksburg michigan $39.00 bucks is probably the best bargain I have ever gotten golfing. This course would be $100-$150 in Destin where we normally vacation. Shot 81 here Golf | Yarrow Golf and Conference Resort $45.00 another incredible deal. This course is about 10 years old and was literally carved out of forest. This place has I believe 45-50 bed and breakfast type of rooms. Spectacular scenery Course Map & Tour $80.00...true links style course with nary a tree or water on most holes. Tons of bunkers and waste areas. Used the 3 hybrid a lot on tee shots. Great week of vacation golf!!
July 30, 201214 yr Played 9 holes at University Club of Kentucky Wildcat course last night with my son and his friend. It is in real good shape. Big Blue looks like it is top shape also.
July 31, 201214 yr Played Devou Park the other day for kicks and giggles (only $20 & shady).. The course was in good shape for what it is, not sure exactly which but one of the back par 4's fairway was like walking on ultra-plush carpet. One downside- I am pretty sure I lost more balls on purpose than I actually lost. My short game was super frustrating, I have a hard time staying down on my wedges and my putting is average at best. Thank God I get off the tee and hit my longer irons well. Still getting about 170 yds out of my 7-iron. However the dreaded 3 putt shows up more than I would like. Shot a 90 so not horrible but Devou is a short course and should have been in the low 80's. I have played Fox Run, California, Devou, Triple Crown, Eagle Creek, Boone Links, Shelbyville Country Club (Louisvillish- my old man lives there). All have been in pretty good shape considering.. Favorite was Triple Crown- had never played it before and thoroughly enjoyed my 91 out there..

He spoke with Terry Jolly and they believe someone in their maintenance fouled up some chemicals in their fertilizer and when we had the 100 plus heat days they all died. My buddy said it it terrible..putting on clay and dirt. This breaks my heart as I've always felt that Terry Jolly and his crew always had the nicest conditions of any of the public courses in NKY. They will lose a bundle of money. They had a 120 man outing scheduled for this Saturday that because of the conditions cancelled earlier this week and moved it to The Willows.

July 31, 201214 yr Their greens are absolutely terrible. Played their recently in a scramble and it was not fun at all. I concur. They were pretty bad. A couple of the workers there seem pretty upset about it, especially since the condition of their course was once something other courses tried to emulate. Hopefully, they can come up with a feasible solution.
August 1, 201214 yr I played a very interesting course Saturday. I played Drake Creek GC in Ledbetter, KY which is about 30 minutes up the Ohio River from Paducah. Pretty good layout that was is decent shape considering the summer they've had in western KY. The last 2 holes are very tough. 200 yard par 3 17th holes was playing dead into a breeze Saturday. 18 is a 400+ yard par 4 that you have to lay-up on, leaving you with about a 175 yard shot. I shot 72 thanks to a hot putter. I would recommend it to golfers of all skill levels.
