I just hope Cal doesn't pull on the reins of Secretariat again. Admittedly, he said he pulled the reins and went to grinder mode WAY to early yesterday. I was really hoping for a UK win over Baylor by 40 yesterday, but for some reason Cal keeps pulling back with 20 point leads. He needs to put teams away by stepping on them and pull back around the 3 minute mark, not the 18 min mark. He did tell his staff and players to not let him do it again. We shall see. Why give any team a chance to make a run and get back in the game? Get em' down, then step on em'.

I'm sorry but being up by 20 at half and double digits the entire second half is enough "stepping on the gas" for me. I didn't notice much Kentucky did differently in the second half, Baylor just started to play a little bit better. Kentucky is not 40 points better than Baylor.

Who does Louisville put on MKG?

It's not like they'll be playing man against UK.

I think they'll play a little big of everything.

Given the matchup problems guys like Gilchrist and Jones present to the Cardinals, I don't think we'll be seeing a lot of straight-up man. I'm thinking straight 2-3 and some matchup zone are much more likely.

What about late December?

Not as much surprise as January, but a little more than pre-season.

I think they are 40 points better than Baylor. You didn't notice anything different in the second half? Are you kidding me? Were we watching the same game? Cal even said he called off the party with 18 to play. Should of at least tried to beat them by 40. When you've got a horse like this team, don't hold them back. A 20 point lead is never safe with a half to play.

Hoping UK has a better shooting performance in New Orleans than they did in the SEC tournament.

Personally, I think the Davis injury "spooked" Cal and that's why he started watching the clock and pulling back.

^I think the team was not fully into the SEC tournament. The way Cal talked about how he hated the tournament and thought they were a waste I think it filtered down to the team. They have been very focused since the NCAA started.

They definitely slowed it down for a huge part of the second half. It wasn't as bad as Vandy or WKU, but they definitely did it.

They aren't 40 points better than Baylor come on that's ridiculous.

That would make sense. Plus, it's been a long year for the frosh that just a year ago were playing fewer games against much weaker opponents in much less physical games. The more Cal can do to let weary bodies rest the better. Taking the air out of the ball and slowing down the game does just that. Best thing would have been to pull the starters but you can't do that in a Final Four berth game. So you take the compromise position: leave the starters in but slow down the game. UK got a relatively easy second half, no additional injuries and a week's rest. They should be well rested and ready to go this Saturday night.

Gorgui Dieng will be at the center for Louisville. He's quickly become my favorite Cardinal with the way he carries himself and his hilarious interviews (both intentional and unintentional).

The C-J's Eric Crawford penned a great feature on the guy for Tuesday's edition.

Dieng a giant on, off the court

Thanks for the link. That's a great article. I'll be cheering against this kid on Saturday, but I really respect him.
