My goodness, I can't believe I had to rescue this thread from the 2nd page. I've thought long, and hard about this game all week. I know Kentucky has superior talent, but I feared the Cats having to play Louisville ever since the brackets were announced. Dieng and Behanan really scare me inside. I know Pitino will have the Cardinals go right at Davis trying to get him in foul trouble from the get go. From years of watching Pitino coached teams I know Davis will get swarmed every time he touches the ball in the paint. I've also seen the effects a big dome can have on shooters. I think I'm going to have one of my ER doctor buddies prescribe me some Valium for me today. I don't think even that will help. I hate to say it, and I'll hate even more to see it, but Pitino gets the ultimate revenge on all of the UK fans that hate him, and it will be even sweeter to him to prevent Coach Cal from getting his first championship.

I'll make no predictions on the score, or the team that will come out on top. Good luck to the Cats today, for an injury free game, so that should they win, they go on to win it all. The whole state, including Louisville, wins if that comes to be.

 

With all that said, while not a probability, it's a possibility this Cardinal team can win. As I've said before, I could NOT be prouder of the kids on this team than if one of them were my son and they were his friends. As a group, this Cardinal team is in my book as my all-time favorite team, win or lose this game, or (God willing), the Championship game. Despite what harder-core UL fans thought about Pitino or Siva, or any other individual, I've always felt this team just needed to all be healthy at the same time and they could achieve greatness. We're fortunate that they're all healthy now, at the "right" time. I couldn't be happier with the way they represent the University and the city, in their interviews and their on-court never-say-it's-over attitude. They bring it all, and leave it on the court.

 

And I couldn't be happier for Coach Pitino. Despite any scandals, despite the losses, despite most other's opinions of him personally, I genuinely like him as our coach, and wish nothing but the best for him personally. In all the years I've seen him interviewed, I've NEVER seen him look so relaxed and lauging and genuinely having "fun". He's always very intense and sarcastic. He's still sarcastic, in a kinder, gentler sort of way this last week. He seems to have come to terms with a lot in both his professional and personal life, and it's been great to see his family surrounding him as his team has gotten to this point.

 

Win or lose by the Cardinals, this season has exceeded all expectations that I had. Win or lose by the Cards, this state should be PROUD of it's representation by great players in the NCAA Final Four, and 2 great coaches.

If UK were to lose tonight, I would at least have a little peace of mind knowing someone as arrogant as you would be so catastrophically dumbstruck by the loss.

That shot is completely forgotten.

Both of them have really improved since the 1st game. Dieng had 6 blocks in the first game. I think he can really help neutralize Davis, and Jones inside. If I remember correctly Davis did all of his scoring in the first game in the 2nd half after both of them got into foul trouble.
