We need classified basketball...

Featured Replies

This is the greatest show in hoops! Don't mess with it! Now if you want to have a Class AA or AAA tournament when they have the Class A tournament go ahead. But, don't mess with the sweet sixteen!

theguru's thread title should've been "We (BGP) need more hits!" and this thread will most definitely accomplish that! :p

Don't mess with basketball?

Well then quit messing with football?

So we're now down to the final 4.

How many close/competitive games have we had out of the 12 games?

One.

I do think this is one of those years where most of the best teams were all in one or two regions. I don't expect either semifinal game to be competitive.

If Kentucky goes to classified basketball, I will never go to state tournament ever again. 1 state, 1 champion. Thats why the Sweet 16 is the BEST postseason tournament in high school sports.

The only change needed at state level to be made is seeding.

The districts are silly where teams advance when they lose. Have a region tourney and be done with it. Best team moves on.

I would like to see two classes. With the top 8 from the two classes making it to Rupp for the Sweet Sixteen.

Then start the Sweet 16 a day earlier so that you would only have the finals on Sat. One final starts at 4pm clear the arena the next final starts at 7pm.

I think that the KHSAA would make more money with this format.

To get to the Great 8(that makes it to Rupp),every year there would be a blind draw to see which region champ plays who to get to Rupp, the Sat before the Sweet 16. For example, region 9 draws region 12, then those two regional champs would play each other to see who goes to Rupp. Just think of the excitement and draw of being able to watch two games back to back to see who makes it to Rupp. Two games because of the two classes.

As I have said in a previous thread, nobody is stopping the next Stan Steidel from stepping up and organizing an "All 2A Classic", "All 3A Classic", "All 4A Classic", etc. You "class" guys are more than welcome to get the ball rolling.

Don't change a thing.

I do not think the tournament format is the problem. I believe the playing field needs to be leveled so that all-star teams cannot be formed and you must play with what you got! The disparity comes when counties and school systems allow anyone to play anywhere they want. I know the KHSAA has rules but they need to be tightened if you want more competition in basketball as well as football. Fairness should be the quest!

The All A Classic is NOT a state championship, it is just another tournament.

The All "A" is a joke. Schools with 600 do not need to play schools with 250 in the All "A".

I don not want to see it go to classification or seeded BUT I'm afraid we are on our way there because -

1- Trinity finally has a good coach

2 - People like Steve Wright's AAU coach and Brandon Bender shopping Canadian transfers to anyone and everyone

I disagree....in fact, let's de-classify football :thumb:

To make matters worse it is going to be the Louisville representative vs. either the Suburban Louisville representative or the Lexington representative.
