Does your Middle Schools allow wrestlers to wrestle with the High School?

Do your Middle Schools allow wrestlers to wrestle with the High School? If not, why? I would like as much feedback as possible.

Which school?

Our middle school teams practice with the high school, mainly because I coach both. If our board would fund the middle school programs I would stick to only the high school, but I'm not holding my breath for funding anytime soon.

Inez Middle School allows for the kids to wrestle for Sheldon Clark.

Moore is one school 6-12th grade. Our kids practice separately but the 8th graders often practice with the high school team and some of them have spots on the high school team.

I know several wrestlers that have been competing with the high school since 7th or 8th grade. There's no team at the middle school, but there wouldn't be enough wrestlers anyway.

I think if a middle school kid can compete with highschool kids. Then it should be done because that way you will be producing better wrestlers. due to the amount of exp they would have threw their years.

In the Oldham schools, it depends upon the SBDM. Oldham, South, and maybe North have a policy that does not allow a middle school athlete to compete at the high school level if there is a middle school team. It was put in place several years ago after several track members competed for the high school (and actually qualified for State), but the middle school team did not have a great year. The coach felt that the team was jeopardized by allowing for individual accomplishment. With the emphasis on Middle School State titles, the middle school wrestlers have not competed at the High School level for the past few years at Oldham and it has hurt the team and the wrestlers. When they get to high school, they are not prepared for HS level competition. If they had been allowed to compete in MS, they would have the experience to move up to the next level when they enter HS. Experience does not have to mean starting for the Varsity - it could be as simple as getting 1 or 2 Varsity starts or competing in a large HS JV tournament.
