ColonelPops
The brackets seemed to be heavily weighted at the bottom. Is that normal?
camelman
Since it was Bellevue's tourney, they were trying for their easiest road to finals, but came up short.

Mustang
Provided us a few more things to work on. I thought that when we were back on defense and made them work for a good shot, they often settled for a "3" which they hit a number of times in the first half but only once in the second half. The Cats defense tonight was stifling, they contested pretty much everything, and scored quite a bit on Brossart turn overs. The battle of the boards was extremely lopsided. The official score sheet shows 43-17. The Cats took advantage of this mis-match, scoring or going to the free-throw line as a result of second (and third) chances. Mustangs jumped out to an 8-0 lead on a pair of J.D. Schumacher long-balls and a Zach Hamberg transition basket. Following a Rod Snapp time out, the Wildcats scored, were able to get into their press and returned the favor, outscoring the Mustangs 12-0. First quarter ended with the Cats on top 13-10. In the second stanza the game was tied at 16, 18, and 20 before the Cats unleashed a 7-0 spurt to close out the half, up 27-20. Newport opened their longest lead in the period 41-26 late third. In the final stanza, the Mustangs mounted a threat at 48-40 with a pair of 3s taken that could have possibly made things interesting and forced a Newport time-out. Not to be however, as the Cats dodged the bullet and re-opened the lead to 15 at 55-40 and hit their free-throws down the stretch to notch the 59-43 win. Burries was limited to 10 points on the night, 14 beneath his season average of 24. IMO Tahj Harding was the elephant in the room, scoring 12 while grabbing 11 rebounds on the night and making the Stangs adjust and rush numerous shots.
