thsrocks
Carmel may be the most highly touted opponent on Trinity's schedule in 2017. The Greyhounds offense returns a solid offensive threesome in senior quarterback Jake McDonald (6’1” 180 lbs), senior running back Willy Schmidt (5’ 8” 170 lbs) and junior running back Camari Hunt (5’ 11” 170). The Carmel defense features junior defensive end Beau Robbins (6’ 4” 230 lbs) who holds 10 offers, including Northwestern, Michigan state, Louisville, Indiana, Purdue and Minnesota. MaxPreps has the Greyhounds rated #65 in the USA. The 2016 campaign ended with Carmel earning the school’s 8th Indiana big school football championship. Trinity claimed their 24th Kentucky big school football championship in 2016. The expectations run high as MaxPreps has the squad ranked #36 in America. The Rocks senior quarterback Nick Bohn (6’ 0” 180 lbs) leads the offense. Senior wide receivers Nick Strothman (6’ 2” 190 lbs), and Rondale Moore (5’ 9” 170 lbs) will be Bohn’s main passing targets. Trinity will rely on three running backs, seniors Brett Tully (5’ 6” 170 lbs), juniors Luke McGuire (5’ 10” 185 lbs) and Geremiah Smith (5’ 7” 177 lbs) to handle the rushing attack. Smith missed the Ryle scrimmage due to injury. The Shamrocks defense is expected to give opponents fits with senior end Arak McDuffie (6’ 4” 230 lbs), junior OLB Stephen Herron, senior LB Nick Cardosi (5’ 10” 200 lbs), and senior Cody Auxier (6’ 0” 276 lbs). The defensive backfield will be anchored by seniors Alex Wilson (5’ 8” 175 lbs) and Santana Jones (5’ 10” 180 lbs). These two powerhouse programs split their two previous meetings. In 2014, the Greyhounds defeated Trinity 10-7 at Marshall Stadium. This avenged Trinity’s 42-35 win at Carmel the previous season. This contest should be another classic between evenly matched teams.
