All State Baseball
1.West Carter (18-5): The Comets are rolling. West Carter has won 6 straight and 10 of their last 11. Some of the wins include; crosstown rival, East Carter, @ Elliott County (had been ranked #1 for most of the season), Rowan County and Greenup County. Can West Carter keep this momentum going? 2.Elliott County (17-3): The Lions have countered their two game skid streak with a 2 game win streak. The Lions have defeated both Ashland and Morgan County to get back on track, but the Lions are undefeated in region play no more as they fell to West Carter 73-71 last week. 3.Boyd County (18-5): Boyd County got a big surprise last week when they fell to previously ranked #9 East Carter, not only was that a big surprise but the margin of victory was an even bigger surprise, 13. Boyd County would bounce back though in a big way, defeating Fairview 103-69. 4.Greenup County (17-7): Greenup County still remains unbeaten in district play standing at 6-0. Will Greenup County stay perfect in district play to finish out the season or will a loss slip up? 5.Rowan County (18-6): Rowan County has been playing very good ball as of late, winning 4 straight and 10 of their last 12 games. One thing stands out….The Vikings are 9-0 at home this season 5 of those 9 wins were by double digits. 6.East Carter (12-12): East Carter has surprised some people this year. The Raiders have knocked off; Greenup County and Boyd County, two of the top 5 teams. Not to mention, the Raiders have took cross-town rival, West Carter to the wire in all of their games this season. 7.Ashland (10-14): The Tomcats have came a long ways since the start of the season. Ashland started the season off slow and sluggish, in fact they had only won 3 games coming into 2017 but have been rockin’ as of late, winning 7 of their last 9 games. 8.Russell (12-14): Russell has been improving as of late, winning 3 of their last 4 games after suffering an 4 game losing streak and having lost 5 of their previous 6 games. The Red Devils played #4 Greenup County extremely well in an losing effort. 9.Bath County (12-13): The Wildcats have won 3 of their last 4 games after having dropped 3 of their previous 4. The Wildcats have a tough test this week with GRC, Augusta and West Carter all on the schedule. 10.Fairview (10-13): Fairview has improved tremendously throughout the season. The Eagles had started the season off poorly going 3-9 into the new year but have won 6 of their 10 games in January so the Eagles in one month have doubled up their win total from December. 11.Lewis County (5-18): The Lions continue to struggle, losing 7 of their last 9 games. 12.Fleming County (6-19): The Panthers continue to struggle, having won 2 out of their last 5 games, in fact, the Lions have only won 2 out of their last 10 games, that’s not a good stat, especially with districts looming. 13.Morgan County (8-17): Morgan County has went in the wrong direction. The Cougars have lost 6 straight, 5 of those were by double digits. 14.Raceland (7-16): The Rams have lost 3 straight after picking up back to back wins over St. Joseph Central and Menifee County. 15.Menifee County (7-16): The Wildcats are starting to turn the page. Menifee has won 3 straight and 4 of their last 5 games. Wildcats picked up a big victory Saturday night, knocking off Garrard County in a thriller, 63-57. 16.Rose Hill Christian (9-17): The Royals losing skid has reached 11 straight games. gchs_uk9
I saw Menifee County play against Garrard County, and while their team isn't real good, #35 Dalton Barnett is a really nice player.
