The key here is he didn't have a good summer. Maybe he feels he belongs at a higher level than scouts and coaches have told him they see him fitting at? I don't know, just speculating. I can't imagine he didn't get plenty of exposure to great programs playing in that summer program.

Are people really saying those teams lacked speed!?! Insane. Kentucky standards are just so0o high. lol. They both were very fast, hit very very hard, and just have much more overall speed and size then anything you'll see in KY. Once in a blue moon KY may have a team like something you see over there, but it's rare. That's just another animal. Shocking that people would say they lack speed..and aren't special. As for Colerain...well it is what it is. Someone I talked to who is a big fan of Colerains said they never really bought into teams just being able to run all over a team and beat them, but Colerain the past couple years has been able to. This year, they just can't. And their passing game is atrocious. Trying to come from behind with no passing game is hard to do...and they better figure out how to get that together.

They definitely had one or two bright spots. That Keenan Gibbs who is going to Bowling Green was huge...and as the pictures showed, he was absolutely lighting up the guy who was on him. I made a mistake, it wasn't 66, it was 67. People on the sideline said he was doin the best he could, but the Gibbs kid is an animal..

Someone is me. I said all of that lol no need to be so indirect. I stand by every single thing I said. It's all true. You really mean to tell me you don't think the coaches are kicking themselves in the butt for that fake punt/pooch/negative yardage punt on their 40 yard line that gave Lasalle great field position and allowed them to score? THEN to get the ball back again, with about 1:30 left and do three quick plays..three and out, all run up the middle, and leave Lasalle with the ball with 1:00 left and pretty good field position again? I think they probably wish they could have a re-do on that last couple minutes. Does that make them bad coaches? Absolutely not. Not in my book anyways lol. I'll just leave it at that, because I think no matter what I say you're going to take it too far and seem to be too touchy. I stand by what I said, and I'm sorry you disagree. Are you being serious??? They couldn't beat any of the 6A teams not named Cooper... Maybe CC if they caught them on the right day. They couldn't beat Highlands and probably couldn't beat Dixie. They would be in that next tier of teams like CC, HC, NCC, and BW. And CovCath wasn't in the top 10 in the coaches' poll. We are talking rankings so how can you put them in the top 3 when they barely beat a team who wasn't in the top 10. LaSalle's defense is decent to average and their offense is horrid. That's in Ohio or Kentucky.

I think everyone has said they were impressed with Erpenbeck yesterday. In fact, that is pretty much the one thing I heard across the board yesterday, was how improved he looked. You can compare him to the QB from the past two years, but really they are two different types as I'm sure you know. Erpenbeck is a run first, pass second type of QB. Last years was a more pure passer, but didn't have as quick of feet. Yesterday Erpenbeck WAS the offense, and had a balanced attack. But you're kidding yourself if you don't see that his legs are the best thing hes' got going for himself at the position. His arm isn't going to get him noticed, but his runs will. If he were to play in college, I'd doubt you'd see him playing QB. And no one is unimpressed or unsatisfied with the coaches. You of all people should know, this is a MAJOR step up and everyone knows it and knows this is a rebuilding year. But they still have a long way to go..you can't fault people for reporting what they see.

Just a question, as I agree that polls don't offer much insight into anything at this stage of the game, but... Why would you tell people not to put much credibility into them, but then as a way to counter the fact that many are saying that Lasalle is actually a very subpar team at this point (which they are, make no mistake), you say that they are #7 to those who follow polls in Cincinnati? I think you and I both know after seeing them they aren't the 7th best team in Cincinnati. They would barely be the 7th best team in NKY.

This is how I'd go right now, except maybe flip flopping CCH and Campbell after what I heard from someone who has seen both teams. I'd also like Conner to actually prove something, but I know they have a good team...so by that alone I'd put them up there.

lol, it was late, I mixed up some numbers, put some where they didn't belong etc. I'd give CovCath the edge right now, only because of Erpenbeck running, but based on everything else I'd really not be shocked if Beechwood would come out on top. I just think Covcath and Campbell, NCC, Beechwood, HC and honestly even Holmes are all too close. It's just a jumble..really no numeric order at this point.

I think Highlands should be fine against Withrow, but I think Boone will give them a decent game...and St. X...well that could get rough. I didn't realize Highlands played Withrow and Boone between now and then though..

Honestly, CCH vs NCC and BW and HC and CCHS are all TOO close to call. CovCath being 0-3 has nothing to do with it. At this point, esp. with BW going 40 to 28 vs Highlands and Highlands beating Ryle by the about the same as Ryle beat CCH, I wouldn't even be too quick to jump and say CovCath is above BW. The only one two I think they are legitimately better than at this point are NCC and HC. People putting CovCath even in the top 10 right now is good enough...if they continue to improve and give Campbell County a game/win next week, I'd say they're more in the 6 to 7 range.

They wouldn't be top 3 in NKY. Not even close. They barely beat CovCath who isn't even in the top 10 or may be on the cusp...so how do you figure?

Lasalle by GCL standards is down. WAY down. By NKY standards, same thing. Down. i will be the first to say, I thought there was no way a team from over there would come over into KY and be that bad. But they were. I was so unimpressed with Lasalle from the first series until the end. Did they get things clicking a little? Yes. Did they have a good player in 99 who was pretty much man-handling 66 on CovCaths' O-line? Yes. (BTW I was informed 99 is their D1 player). But that team would have got beat by a handful of NKY teams IMO. Their QB, although I hear is a very nice kid and very athletic, just isn't suited for that position. I'm sure they are doing the best they can, but they have a rough season ahead in the GCL and I wish them the best of luck as they'll need it. And now that I read what I've said, I realize it seems as though you lost the game. lol. You didn't. Congratulations! You all battled the whole time and earned your win. As for CovCath. Say what you want about penalties and calls by the refs being the deciding factor. Wrong. The safety, and the play calling by the coaches at the end of the second half took this game in the wrong direction and Covcath never recovered from it. They look improved without a doubt from the first time I saw them this year though and that's a good sign. Erpenbeck is the offense and they will go as far as his legs will take them. If a team keys in on him however, CovCath is in trouble, because they have no other go to. I know everyone said Schaeffer did a lot last week, but I didn't see it today.. and while some of Erpenbecks' long balls were caught for big gain today, they are floaters, and Lasalle put no pressure on Connelly, and if a team does, that outcome will be different. Overall I came away more mpressed with Erpenbeck, happy to see them improving but realizing there is still a long way to go..but most of all severely surprised and disappointed by Lasalle,

Right...so CovCath lost to another 4A school who actually plays in 4A. Meaning they'd still have gotten beat if they played in the right class. A weak GCL team will beat a weak NKY team. The speed and size of Ohio football is just on another level. I believe we'll be seeing Beechwood and Covcath in week 4 both looking for a win...and CovCath will likely find it that day, but not this Saturday.

Ryle is NOT number 5. They are 2, and I'd put SK right behind them at 3.

From what I was told,Dixie ran the no huddle offense about as good as it could be done. When the umpire blew the whistle, Dixie was ready to snap the ball. This had to be a big reason Beechwood wore down so much along with numbers on the sideline. Also heard, Dixie is big up front!

Lasalle will win this one convincingly. Lasalle is big. There is no way the boys at CovCath will stack up well against them. Football in Ohio is just a different level of speed and size. CovCath should just use this game to work on their weaknesses verse a good team from across the river...it will only pay off in the end. Lasalle 35 Covcath 14.

To be fair, they didn't whoop up on them in the SCRIMMAGE. They would have won, but it wasn't whooping by any means and at this stage I'd take HC in a matchup. CovCath is in the top 10...by a hair..probably around 9 or 10.

I'm pretty sure everyone from Ryle knows that the one person everyone has pointed out "set the tone" is #34. But I'm saying, you can say that set the tone, but that excuses Highlands playing just as dirty as the one kid from Ryle? Eh...I mean it's football, it's going to be rough. But it wasn't one sided, not even close. Everything Highlands got, they had coming...and I suppose you could say vice versa.

I'm not saying to play him both ways. I know he'd get worn down too easy at this point. But I think he'd be useful on the defense, if he weren't so important to the offense.
