I was not basing my opinions or what I know off of that article or what I read on here at all. I wouldn't say any of what I said if I didn't know them. This is why I know the process did not go the way they wanted it to from the get go. Luke wanted to sign. Offered a 3rd to 6th round picks money, he'd have gone. If he honestly said "I'll only go for 1st or 2nd round money, so don't offer me 300,000 or less" then he'd have never been in negotiations this long and made it known to many around that he wanted to sign, cause there was no chance in that happening. Obviously the Sox, if they were willing to deal out some money, would go after one of the three guys they mentioned in their report. They chose them for a reason and I can totally buy that he may have been more a 20th round pick, but since it was known blah blah he went 43rd. But he wasn't a top round pick talent, or they'd have been willing to offer the money he wanted...alas there is no offer. I don't think it matters. I think he'll be better off at UK, and if baseball doesn't pan out for him he'll have an amazing experience and a degree to boot. But if indeed he turned down 3rd to 6th round money, then he has a whole lot riding on his college career, because he is betting that he is really a 1st or 2nd round pick...and who knows what can happen between now and 2012.

To save face...this whole process didn't go as they'd hoped it would go from the start. They truly believed he was a top round pick...and ended up being a 43rd round pick. On top of that, if the offer was right, Luke would have gone. He wanted to sign. He was offered 150,000 to 300,000 which is a 3rd to 6th (which I doubt. I could see maybe 15 to 20, not 3rd to 6th.) So you're telling me he was offered that much, knowing in the end his school would be paid for anyways if it didn't work out...why not give it a shot? He wanted to sign. I don't think they outright lied, I think they maybe offered some decent money, but I think it was a little prettied up for the public. *Just offering an answer to your question, not saying this is for sure fact.

Im not buying some of it. But either way, he is ending up where right now he needs to be, so it's a good result.

Ryle should win this...and I am one of few I'm sure who think it won't be as close as people are hoping.

lol wouldn't go that far. Highlands will likely have their way. CovCath has a better attitude being led by a better coach, but they will struggle. Their defense will get run over by Highlands running game, and that will only make their passing game that much better. The offense looked to be okay, but they'll only go as far as Erpenbecks legs carry him, which against a better defense than HC I don't know if it will be as far as what we witnessed. They are definitely running the right offense for him though. He needs to be careful...he tries to get a little fancy at times and could get hurt that way. (trying to run into defenders etc.). I didn't see a RB who is really ready to be the go to...so we'll see. They looked to be on the right track, but Highlands is on another level..

And on top of that, Dick Maile is a fine man. But I think it'd be a mistake to hire him..for a multitude of reasons that of which I don't care to really pinpoint, but have somewhat been mentioned.

A good majority of the parents at CCH/NDA are people who get way too involved and are too mouthy and really know nothing of what they talk about. I don't know much about the NDA situation, but I know CCH is parent driven like no other. There is a reason coaches have cited the politics and parental interference in things they didn't like.. I think Stamm would be a good choice.

Ah okay, if we are talking between Guyn and Johnson as best senior in KY, I'd have to say I was more impressed with Johnson, but from what I've heard from a couple people whose job it is to watch and talk about these guys...Guyn may actually have stepped it up..alot. I have heard nothing but good about him over the Summer..

Hey..relax. NO. I did not read your post first. But contrary to what you obviously believe, I don't take what you say to be word of God, so it would not have altered my opinion anyway. And to clarify, I said Mueller probably knows a lot more about football than "we" do. We being you, me, and the others. Don't just specify towards me. I know plenty of football. I also know I'm not Dale Mueller, and I know unless you are actually him, then you could be his best friend in the whole world and it still wouldn't change my opinion that Bardo needs to actually PLAY in varsity game this year before the Highlands faithful hype him up to this level. (And even if you are Mueller himself, I'd like to actually see the kid play the position in a game and not in a scrimmage or 7 on 7 before annointing him). I already stated I think he'll be a good QB. He'll be tops in nky, with West I'd think.

WKU would be a good fit and a great program for Johnson to end up at. I don't think he will land much better offers. I mean he may get some solid looks and maybe even an offer from a high major school, but I don't think he'd be a significant contributor at one of those schools. He's better off going to a program like WKU where he can get in there and make an impact early on. As for Johnson being the best player in the state of KY. That very well may be, and to me he is. But I think some people would argue that the kid at BG is more legit.

I agree. Ryle seems to do well in post-season play because of their tough schedule during the regular season. I wouldn't say they had the toughest schedule in NKY last year, but def one of them. I also have to question if this may be a bit TOO ambitious. I don't know, maybe not.

You're asking what he has to do to live up to the hype? Real easy and quick answer. He would first have to actually PLAY in a game. Like I said previously, I heard and believe that Bardo is better than Guidugli and should have been the starter last year. But IF he were that good don't you think he'd have tried to move Guidugli somewhere and use Bardo at QB, having him for TWO years as opposed to just one at the position? (Since he apparently is a major D1, future NFL prospect). Mueller likely knows more than we do about it all. And everyone hyped up Guidugli, who apparently Mueller liked at QB over Bardo last year, and he did NOT end up at a D1 school. So it isn't unreasonable at all for anyone to question how he is somehow the best QB in NKY and the state, when he hasnt even played QB in a game yet. lol. West, at this point, is the best QB in NKY.

Is the scrimmage really going to be at CCH at 7:30pm? Seems like it could get dark pretty fast.

lol, this thread is just getting laughable on all fronts. Good luck at UK next year. I'm sure he is going to have a good career there and in 3 years i'm sure we will see him again drafted higher than this time around and likely where he hopes to be.

For all the people saying how great Myerhoff is, I hear twice more who either played for him or had a child who played for him who think he is one of the worst coaches to play for. I have not heard near as many who disliked Krumpelbeck. No dog in this fight, but just my two cents..

Can I just say this without anyone jumping on me? lol..but everyone in Ft. Thomas said the SAME thing about Guidugli last year, and I don't believe [maybe I'm wrong] that he ended up playing D1. Am i saying Bardo won't go D1? heck no. I've heard from some very smart people that he was a better qb than Guidugli last year, and that he indeed has a heck of an arm. But i think it is DEF. a stretch to say he outplayed Hendrix. Hendrix is going to ND for a reason...and on top of that they are different types of QB.

Luke has much improvement to do on his catching skills. Is he a great HS catcher, of course. But this is a different breed and level of game now. College will benefit him in so many ways. He'll get an education, and improve his catching skills while also facing top pitchers, allowing him to improve his hitting as well. And while he is a great hitter, if you watched him at all during the summer, then you know he def could use the 3 years to get used to seeing 90+ and more accurate pitching than he did at the HS level. It seems like a pretty easy choice to me.

I don't think Covcath is going to be as good as youre hoping. And I don't think we're ever going to see a team like the one Covcath had the past two years come through for a long long time. But as you said, that could be a good thing..lol

Who is this lefty you speak of? If what youre saying is true, did he play last year? I heard nothing about someone who could hit 94 mph. I've witnessed some pretty amazing HS pitchers. I think someone might have been stretching that number a bit for you. A left handed pitcher throwing that hard would be hard to miss..

I think you're pushing it a bit. I heard from many people that saw the 7 on 7 that Hendrix was going to ND for a reason...and Bardo has yet to prove himself, so until then.. Also, as Henry just said...two totally different types of qb's. I think Bardo will be one of the better QB's in NKY this year, behind West IMO. West just doesn't have the supporting cast Bardo will have which will make Bardo look even better.
