HHS and JC did not play last year. I believe the game you are referring to was HHS and Lincoln County.

No call to Cov Cath, but to Elder. My son was of the impression that they weren't playing each other for JV on Saturday, but who knows.

It really isn't spin. The two options, Academics and Athletics, are not mutually exclusive. You can get both at many schools, so why must you declare your reason as to one or the other?

Good point. Can't imagine that run back for 6 to start the game was any part of the game plan, and when the kicker came off the field, he was gettting an earfull from one of the coaches.

It also might mean that Scott and Dixie might be playing for the last playoff spot in the district.

What surprised me was the slide was a little early, and I believe he had room to run the extra two or three yards for the first down. Instead, it was fourth down and two or so, and they had to punt.

I seem to recall making a remark to this affect following the Dixie game, and that HHS had ample running backs to get the job done. Alford and Bankemper also deserve mention for their efforts late in the game.

OK, so no team wants to face their arch nemesis without their two leading backs, but let's give some credit to the guys who stepped in and took care of business. Is there any reason to believe they wouldn't do the same next week? Also, the O line did a great job run blocking, and gave Tony G. all the time he needed to throw on passing plays. The sky is not falling, and there are at least 4 (possibly 5 - 6) backs who stand ready to run behind a solid line that is coming together nicely. Yes, it is Cov Cath week, and I believe a note of guarded optimism is in order. Lastly, our defense was strong again. Dixie's QB took several good hits, and continued to get back up and back to the huddle. The D game plan was right on, and as has been noted earlier in this thread, DH did not cross the 50 until after the final outcome had been decided.

Why would you say that? Fennell and Head did great! I think Alford got a few touches and gained yardage. Passing game looked good, with a lot more down field attempts than previous, with quite a bit of success. It was good to see Will Bardo get to throw the ball in the second half, other than just handing it off as he did in the Holmes game. All in all, a very good effort.

I believe True was the punter, and New was the back-up QB. True had a couple of punts, and New didn't play.

Would the correct answer be 6 scores (no way to determine whether you are predicting TD or FG, as they both are allotted the same single shot)?:confused:

OK, so if you start with a Baker's dozen, and you fire one per score (TD or FG), how many do you anticipate using before and after the game? Also, just for the accuracy of any calculations, does the 'handbook of armaments' call for one shot to be fired in case of a Safety? Are there any other circumstances requiring the firing of a salvo?

I saw his name on one of the early Excel rosters that were making the rounds via email, but not on the final roster, unless as NCBird mentioned, it was something new this week. And if that were the case, I would expect more chatter about it on here.

Don't know for sure, but at the Male scrimmage I saw #53 Cam Dierig, and I believe #31 Tyler Fennell. There may have been more in the rotation, but I seem to recall these two. My son told me that Jarred was at practice yesterday, and had a large wrap on his leg, but was walking OK. Good to hear he is back with the team and back to school.

Zach Hurtt will be playing linebacker. Not sure of the others.

Hope you are correct with that one!:thumb: Aside from the points on PAT or FG, the obvious advantage in field position due to touch backs was incredible. The game vs. Trotwood Madison stands out, as Bathiany was incredible in putting every kickoff into their end zone, with the exception of the last one, which was designed as a squibber. When they kicked-off, our receivers were standing at about the 20 yard line, and came forward to catch the ball, giving us a 15 yard or so advantage on starting field position. Who knows, we may end with a scenario where one player does the kick off (distance, not necessarily accuracy) while another handles PATs and FGs (accuracy, not necessarily distance).

The freshman kicker last year was Adam Weinel. He kicked a 29 yard field goal against Dixie, which had enough leg for at least 5 more yards. Plenty of extra points were blocked, but that was more a function of blocking (or not blocking) than it was him missing. Heard he has been working hard through the off-season, so we'll see what that leads to. This is the first time in a few years that kicking is not being mentioned as a strength, so it will be interesting to see who asserts himself in the role.

Since the title of this thread is "Highlands, #1 Linebacker crew in the bluegrass..." is it your assumption that Collinsworth and Conner are also playing linebacker? I don't recall seeing that during spring ball, nor did I see it last year, but maybe you know something I don't.:confused:

If I recall correctly, Kevin played WR for the Frosh. Backfield was Ethan Bishop, Corey Compton and Austin Bowling for the most part. Kevin did handle punt returns and was quite elusive. As to your second question, I did not see Bishop on the field on Friday. Not sure where he was, but he wasn't out there.

I believe it is in Barbourville, KY, and we passed it on the way to Bell County a few years back.

I stand corrected re: the participation in practices for the playoffs last year. Which makes me wonder why the separate practices this year?
