That alone will be worth the price of the DVD! Maybe that will be the the big start of the highlights that Silver Streaker alluded to in another post???

LN will likely take you to task on that one! I would love to see a more pass-oriented offense, however, with that in mind, and with some of the backs we will have next year, we will still have a potent running game. Couple those backs with 3 returning O Line starters, and HHS should be able to run with great success.

Just to play contrarian, I will throw another spin on your rationale. If you look at this year alone, then sure, a lot of sub 500 teams may have made the playoffs. Some of those teams probably won't get better. However, if you look at it in the context of more than a single season, it is bound to help. I'll use one example to back up my argument. Whitley County, by no means a sub 500 team, made it to the State Semifinals in 5A in the East. This was further than they had ever advanced in the playoffs, and was a real community event. We listened to the local radio broadcast on the bus for a while heading back north, and from the interviews they were doing, I would be surprised if their juniors and sophomores aren't already back in the weight room working to get back there (and further) next year. I think it is hard to judge the success of a 6 class system based on the first 2 years, versus the longer term. It is going to take time for some of the emerging programs to build up their tradition of winning, but it is going to happen.

Not sure how everyone in the state does it, but at Highlands, the player (or parents) buys the ring. There were two choices last year, the silver version (less expensive) and the gold version (more expensive) of the same design. I seem to recall a similar discussion last year where one poster stated their booster organization purchased the rings, but I can't remember who said that.

I believe they changed it to give them the option of using him as a TE, which he had played a few years ago.

A few thoughts; It is at least one, and hopefully two weeks premature to entertain discussions about next year. Not to doubt your sources, however, I can't believe any significant coaching time has gone into the depth chart for next year, instead of preparing for opponents in the playoffs. Keep in mind, that in addition to any moves that might be made, there are several current juniors already on the O-line (Beck and Dierig), not to mention any sophomores who will compete for time.

Statistically, he may be as large as you guess. However, on the real scale, he is huge. Plays smart, keeps his composure in tough situations, and most of all, is a leader among the JV players.

Just for clarification, I have to ask. Do you feel it is the team (players and coaches) who are over confident, or is it the fan base who post on BGP? And, if it is the team you believe is over confident, how did you arrive at that opinion?

Something like that. There was a little post play action, and when a ref stepped toward the players to break it up, #44 inadvertently took a swing at him. It looked like it was intended for a HHS player, but the ref stepped in at the wrong time. It wasn't real close, but the apparent intent was what got him tossed.

The important thing is that you posted yours first. Technically, his was first (#111 @ 6:59am), however, it is lacking in the usual LN in-depth analysis that yours provided! Maybe the two of you can put together a radio call-in show!?! :thumb:

#4 Travis Alford played exceptionally well in all phases of the game. Ran hard, blocked for other backs, and made the quarterback's day a long one!

Absolutely! Good speed, especially getting outside on a few scrambles. Not afraid to take it inside either.

Great defensive timing by X on this play prevented Kyle Wells from coming down with the ball in the end zone.

I seem to recall that the spirit shop was open in the stadium during one of the first weeks of the football season, when there was a JV home game and a lot of FTJFL games on the same day. Additionally, there was one home JV game when the spirit shop was open in the gym lobby, and the announcer (Nieporte) mentioned it at least 40 times during the course of the game. I'm sure it takes a lot of effort to get the large boxes out and set up to sell, so they want to make sure that it is worth the time and effort. Hopefully, this Saturday, with a great JV game and FTJFL on both ends, there will be a sizable crowd perusing all the warmer gear for late season and playoff games.

What quality opponents has the X JV team played this season? I checked out their record on the school's website (nice site, BTW!), however without knowing the other teams, I can't really tell if a 56 - 0 win means much. It looks like the only two losses were to Trinity and Cincy Moeller. So, can you fill in some of the blanks about their other games?
