  1. If I recall correctly, Kevin played WR for the Frosh. Backfield was Ethan Bishop, Corey Compton and Austin Bowling for the most part. Kevin did handle punt returns and was quite elusive. As to your second question, I did not see Bishop on the field on Friday. Not sure where he was, but he wasn't out there.
  2. Mike Mitchell dislodging the ball from the Boyle County tight end in the north end zone with a perfectly timed hit!
  3. I believe it is in Barbourville, KY, and we passed it on the way to Bell County a few years back.
  4. That's funny right there! Besides, we don't have one with 5A on it, yet!:ylsuper:
  5. I stand corrected re: the participation in practices for the playoffs last year. Which makes me wonder why the separate practices this year?
  6. Not sure if the numbers are in line with recent classes, however I do think that keeping the freshmen practicing separately is something new. In the past, the freshmen were at the Varsity practices throughout the playoffs, even though they didn's have an active part. Currently, they are totally separate, except for being able to dress on Friday. We'll see what kind of committment they have come off-season conditioning and spring football in preparation for JV.
  7. Not sure yet, although I believe they will. That's the impression they were given at the end of the freshman season.
  8. The freshmen kept practicing, although separately from the Varsity. They continued to practice in Death Valley, and were doing some drills and got back to lifting weights twice a week. At last count, there were about 14 still practicing. Two freshmen linemen were moved up to practice on the scout team with some of the JV.
  9. As for #1, I can't say whether or not this has happened before. HHS only had two real home games this year (Ryle and Scott), and Coach Mueller was on the sideline for both. I believe he was offering input during the Ryle game, but didn't actually "take over." The Conner game ended up being at Highlands, and he was on the sideline for part of the first half, but appeared pretty laid back. To point #2, without giving up the gameplan:sssh:, they have added a few wrinkles each game, depending on what they saw through scouting to counter another team's strength. I don't believe they have installed any different look, however they could pull something out of their playbook that they may not have used in a while. From what I saw of SK in the first game, they are well-coached and play well together, and for HHS to beat them, it will have to be a great team effort with outstanding execution on both sides of the ball. This will be a great game to watch!
  10. I have heard from several parents of current Varsity and JV players that the discipline gets tougher as these Freshman step up, and we'll start seeing it with Spring Football. I, for one, don't like this double standard. Why not set a tough expectation from the start, and then the transition won't be anything but smooth. It is extremely frustrating to the guys who consistently work hard at practices and during games when these problem players bring the team down.
  11. There appears to be a possibility. Firstly, Highlands must win the remaining two games on the schedule, at Simon Kenton (undefeated) and at Conner. Then, Campbell County would need to lose to Ryle (6-1) at home or to Boone County. Lastly, Cov Cath would need to lose to either Holmes or Simon Kenton. This scenario would give Highlands a 7-2 record, and Campbell County/Cov Cath 6-3 records, so no tie breaker would come into play. Things should be a lot clearer this Thursday around 8:00 pm, following the HHS @ SK and Ryle @ CC games. Hopefully Highlands Freshmen understand the implications of this Thursday's showdown with the formidable Pioneers of Simon Kenton and are practicing with the intensity they will need to display Thursday night! It will be a great one to watch.
  12. In the interest of attempting to sort out the standings for the Large School Division of NKY Freshman Football heading into the final two weeks of the season, here is what has been posted in an earlier thread regarding the East and West division: West Division Conner, Scott, Ryle, Simon Kenton, and Boone County East Division Dixie Heights, Highlands, Covington Catholic, Campbell County and Holmes Highlands is 3-1 in the East and 5-2 overall, with wins over Cov Cath, Boone, Dixie, Scott and Holmes, and losses to Ryle and Campbell County. The remaining two games are at Simon Kenton and at Conner. So, what are the other teams' records in division and overall, and who do they face in the final two games?
  13. The last two years (and possibly further back) the championship game was between the #1 teams in the East and the West, regardless of their class. Not sure if there has been any change to this as a result of any realignment, however this is how it was done in the past.
  14. New lights looked good last night! The lights above the press box were on early, probably to burn them in, and the rest came on at dusk. Whole different game when you can see the players, even on the other side of the field......
  15. OK - Just checking. We have had a couple of games moved, so I didn't know if this was another change.
  16. Actually, the final was 24 - 3 Highlands. Adam Weinel hit a 39 yard field goal for the extra margin. Not a bad kick for a freshman!
  17. Jacob Manning #51 started at Center, and did a great job. He consistently put the ball right where Abner had his hands, which made for an improved passing game. Keenan Wiegand #53 started at Left Tackle and did well. As a unit, the O line seemed to block better, both in the passing and running game. There is still room for improvement, but the progress was noticeable.
  18. I checked. Cov Cath hosts NCC on Saturday at 1:00pm.
  19. HHS Frosh @ Cov Cath 8/29/2007 5:00:00 PM HHS Frosh Vs. Ryle 9/6/2007 5:30:00 PM HHS Frosh Vs. Boone Cty 9/13/2007 5:30:00 PM HHS Frosh @ Dixie 9/19/2007 5:30:00 PM HHS Frosh Vs. Scott 9/27/2007 5:30:00 PM HHS Frosh @ Campbell Cty. 10/4/2007 5:30:00 PM HHS Frosh @ Holmes 10/11/2007 5:30:00 PM HHS Frosh @ Simon Kenton 10/18/2007 5:30:00 PM HHS Frosh @ Conner 10/25/2007 5:30:00 PM
  20. That may be, but the info hasn't made it home yet. I got the info from the original schedule that was handed out at the parents' meeting in May. Being a parent doesn't necessarily mean I get all the up-to-date info from my son......
  21. Highlands will kill Ryle by a score of 42-0
  22. On Tuesday, Coach Barr said the plan was for the freshmen to scrimmage first. Sounded like the plan was to start that part of the scrimmage as soon as Male had time to get ready, which led me to believe it could be before 7:00. He said they were going to run 30 Offensive and 30 Defensive plays each, and that would be it.
