That's Pat
I"m pretty sure they have won a few in a row. Can they keep it going with all the strong competition? Good Luck
tdyballgame
It's 37 games as of now. They open with CCH and word from the hills is it will be very tough for HHS to beat CCH. CCH is apparently loaded with a nice mixture of players from throughout the NKY area. And there is always Dixie to contend with. And Ryle, Conner, Holmes, Scott, Boone, Simon Kenton, and Campbell Cty. A lot of Big School 6A programs. It will definitely be tough. And then probably Ryle again for the championship. Good Luck Ya'll are putting to much pressure on these young kids to 'keep the streak alive'. I think they should be allowed to just play football and have some fun. Whatever happened to that? leatherneck
Ya'll are putting to much pressure on these young kids to 'keep the streak alive'. I think they should be allowed to just play football and have some fun. Whatever happened to that? They are going to need to get used to the pressure real quick if they intend to play at Highlands. Last year's team handled the pressure just fine; no mental breakdowns experienced. Just a will to work harder to keep the streak alive. I know a lot of the frosh players and most of them are going around confident and wanting to keep it alive; they aren't walking around worried about the streak ending . All streaks come to an end at some point and when it happens, I'm sure they'll be some good natured from the upper classmen, but that will quickly pass and hopefully the frosh will quickly return to their winning ways. And nothing is more fun than winning by the way.
Qryche11
Records are great but they are meant to be broken so I say let the Baby Birds enjoy it and have fun keeping it going. Reports are rolling in that they are very athletic, not as big as most people thought but some verrrrry nice athletes. Also hearing there are more than a few who will stick ya as well. 87Bird
BlueChip, I think that's exactly what Coach Barr is doing. He's getting those kids to put the streak as far out their mind (if that's possible) as he can and just have fun playing a game they love. And you see the results. This isn't his first dance. I'm sure he realizes that those outside the freshman program bring the "'streak" up, but he'll continue to keep the kids grounded and more than likely, the streak will continue. He's a great coach who doesn't get near the credit he deserves, IMO.
gamehuntr
The Frosh should get a shot at the scrimmage this week, most of the players are chopping at the bit to show their stuff. If last season's FTJFL was any indication, should be some big playmakers in this bunch!

BlueChip
Everything that is wrong with today's youth ... no discipline and no competition! Everything that is wrong with today's society.....no time for the kids to be kids! Win, Win, Win.
BGBird
Ya'll are putting to much pressure on these young kids to 'keep the streak alive'. I think they should be allowed to just play football and have some fun. Whatever happened to that? Regarding the win streak, the team is familiar with the record, however that doesn't appear to be the only focus they have. They are being taught to "Play To Win," which every HHS player before them has been taught. If they take care of that, the streak will be intact. leatherneck
Everything that is wrong with today's society.....no time for the kids to be kids! Win, Win, Win. Oh come on, that's being a little melodramatic don't you think? They're not third graders any more. At just what point does winning become important anyway? Winning is an important part of life. Winning admission to the best college; winning acceptance to graduate school or winning that first job; then its onto winning that big project or contract for your employer. Winning is important and winning on the field carries over into winning in the classroom. Success breeds success. Yes there is some pressure to continue the streak but no where near what you seemingly to me make it out to be. But as others have mentioned, Coach Barr has been quite adept of keeping that pressure manageable. While the streak is mentioned, no one that I know of is really all that wrapped up in it as much as you make it seem. If anything, folks look at it as something neat and fun. No one is going to jump off a roof because of the pressure and no one is going to jump off a roof if and when the streak ends. And if they keep winning, they'll be having a bunch of fun inspite of any pressure that the streak carries with it. My nephew on the team is having a blast and loves the fact that the streak is in place. He really wants to add to the streak and be part of those Highlands team that help create the streak. extackler
This "streak" could become a very positive thing if handled properly by the players and coaches. It's possible this group of Freshman could use the "streak" as a motivational factor. Dedicate yourself to the TEAM and to each other as teammates. Put aside all the negative influences and work TOGETHER to obtain team goals. This team has just as many "athletes". "football players", and "hard working kids" as the other HHS teams have had. If they accomplish their goal by extending the "streak, they will also accomplish the goal of silencing the so called critics. Good Luck to all of them!
