  1. I was thinking the same thing. The FC girls were a force when they were in Jr. High.....what has changed?
  2. You're kidding me, right? Talk about people wearing blinders......or maybe just being blind. No relation whatsoever! LMAOROF I know both families, trust me. I guess everyone named Smith must be related too. Really I'm just saying that the really obvious fouls seemed to be overlooked and the ticky-tack fouls were called. And by the way, I saw Burden holding plenty of jersey's, too.....no call. I guess the Polar Bears were the real "saints" in this game, huh?
  3. I have to agree, consistency was a problem in this game. Girls were tackled to floor, no whistle.... but head to the other end and a hand check gets a call. Or a girl trips over her own feet and falls into an opponent and the opponent get whistled for a foul. It's really a wonder no one was seriously injured. I mean, Douglas got tackled at one point and when she got up she didn't even look like she knew where she was and well, ....no call. I have often wondered if some officials are biased against private schools. If that's the case they need to leave their opinions off the court. I will say that Bracken County looked better tonight then they did against Mason County. They took better care of the ball and it seemed like they were shooting better, although I don't really know percentage wise if they did actually shoot better. Haight made some good shots and when she missed she seemed to always get a whistle... which helped later in the game because the Saints seemed to back off for fear of getting called for a foul every time she shot the ball.
  4. Freshman refs where do they get these guys? Let me guess!!! Let me guess!!!! 16th Region (Varsity refs)?:D:D
  5. The loss of Benzinger was a huge loss for Scott, if you ask me. She was so focused and would drive the ball through a brick wall if she had to.
  6. Thanks. I noticed some players had three X's in the boxes where some had just one X.
  7. Okay, help me out her. On the KHSAA DQ list, what does the O/R, S/R, C/R stand for?
  8. Sorry, got them confused. Who else would have been missing. I was comparing numbers on the roster on the gym wall to players and it looked like everyone was accounted for. Although, there were more on the bench than on the roster, and the bench was full. Did some players not return from last year.
  9. I wasn't there but I heard that a Nicholas County's player took a swing at a St. Pat Player which led to both players being ejected. I heard that the NC player was suspended for the season as a result. Not sure if this is accurate...just what i heard.
  10. Bracken was missing Chelsea Ahrens(sp?). Hannah Haight was on the bench early in the first half in foul trouble. I think that if these two teams meet again with Ahrens healthy, the result could be different.
  11. In My Opinion...16th region refs are the worst. There is a coach in the 16th that is loud and obnoxious and is constantly yelling at the ref's telling them what to call and 95% of the time they let the coach call the game. Any other coach would be t-d up but the refs let him go on and on and even give in to his rants. Sad. They shouldn't be on the floor if they can't try to be at least a little unbiased. I understand there are going to calls that are close that they are going to favor the home team, but the really obvious stuff that they let go on without a whistle...well they shouldn't be on the floor if they can't do better.
  12. Did you see the Lady Royals play. If so, how did they do?
  13. Devilman was recently logged on on anyother thread......maybe he can provide some details here????
  14. Any other scores....?
  15. Funny you would mention those two factors when a big rivalry game in the 39th will not take place considering it would bring a large attendence (and revenue). Still can't understand why? Oh well! Maybe in the post season?
  16. Grant County falls to the St Patrick Lady Saints in what was a very wet, cold and muddy game At the half it looked like Grant County might pull off the win but St. Patrick dominated the second half for a 6 to 2 victory. Both schools will play in the regional tournament for the first time. Details in the link below http://www.maysville-online.com/articles/2009/10/15/sports/doc4ad69397ce7e0530530688.txt
  17. I have to agree, if it is because they need to be held back academically, then I have no problem "footing the bill" but if it is just cause the parents want them to have an advantage on the court, then why make the taxpayers pay? As a taxpayer, i feel I pay for enough waste as it is. Plus, too, how much satisfaction can a person get knowing their 16 year old freshman beat a 14 year old freshman?
  18. I agree that the 39th district is anyone's to win this year.
  19. I have to agree with thomasmoredad on this one. Coach Douglas did not "choose" to beat Mason last year. So I guess coach Orme just chose to lose all those years? As far as the summer camp, I think coach Douglas wanted to play her girls against teams they hadn't played in previous years and probably wouldn't play in the future to get her girls out of the usual routine. The way I see it St Pat's team right now and in the next couple of years should be pretty strong. This is due to the fact that these girls have played together for years and they have worked hard to get to where they are. Sumoroyal , it almost seems like you think that because Mason had a weak team due to losing the Chambers and company that St. Patrick should have had mercy on Mason and let them win. I would also like to mention that there was no mercy in their match uup in Jan. of 2007 when Chambers was still playing to almost the end with the almost 50 point lead, and on this sight the next day not one word was mentioned of how bad it was of the Royals to run the score up. There was mention however from what I believe was a Royals fan of how the bench should have been played because those were the type of games when you should give your reserve players some playing time so that they can improve for future years. That comment only validates how there was no mercy on St. Pat that night. Heck, in the district tournament win this past season, Douglas played everyone on her bench except the water girls! Here's the thread..... http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?t=113636&highlight=mason here's the post.....#6 from kysportsfan4life.... I'd have to say that some of the blame should be given to the coaches. How many times have you seen Mason County blow a team away (much like the St. Pat game), and still the starters are in til the last minute or 2 of the game. These kind of games are the ones that you can put your bench out there and give them some experience, or else how are they going to get better if they never get a chance? It's just not right. Girls that normally sit on the bench should be getting good minutes in games like these, and for most of the Mason Co. games I have been to over the years, these girls are maybe, if they're lucky, getting 1-3 minutes. btw, who's to say they will meet up in the district? Has that been drawn yet?
  20. The subject was touched on in a previous thread, http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?t=184624&highlight=mason, but no one seems to know a legitimate reason why the Royals and the Saints aren't scheduled to play a regular season game in 2009/2010. I was told a couple of months ago that a parent of a Royal player had cited a new policy that was adopted by Mason County that they (boys and girls teams alike) were not going to schedule private schools during their regular season. So I thought that was the answer and as lame as it was, my thoughts were it is the schools right to make such a decision and I didn't think much more about it, but in looking at their schedule it seems that reason was incorrect since they have scheduled Holy Cross, Brossart, and Calvary Christian. So I thought knew the answer and now once again I am wondering why in 20plus years are these two teams not playing each other in the regular season? In the above reference thread there was a comment that it could be bitterness on the Royals part due to the 30 point loss dealt them by the Saints in the district tournament. At the time, I had given some thought to that and thought it certainly could be true, but abandoned that theory after hearing of the now bogus " regular season private school policy". I have to wonder if there is any truth to the "bitterness theory". I have been told by several sources that St. Patrick tried on many occasions to contact the AD and the Coach at Mason County to schedule to no avail. So does anyone have any idea why a crosstown rivalry between these teams isn't on the schedule?
  21. Why would the 39th district have a problem with the Girls State Tourney coming to NKU?
  22. I wasn't really thinking of the "selling stuff" fundraiser. I was thinking more along the lines of working concessions and that sort of thing. I'd personally would rather give a dontaion than have to sell stuff.
  23. I agree that fundraisers would work but I also know that some of the kids that can't afford to pay to play are also the kids whose parents won't help with the fundraisers. I know that there are times that fundraisers are held just so certain kids can play and the parents that end up doing all the work are the ones that could have and would have preferred to just pay the fee. All they have done is given their time to help a kid whose parents aren't willing to give up their own time to help their own kid. So if a fundraiser is what you choose to do (and I agree it is a good idea) parents should all be required to work equal amounts of time and if a parent doesn't work then they should pay, imo. Not that it happens every time but it does happen.
