  1. I agree although, I think she may have quite possibly stayed another year but St Patrick's administration has done some things in the last couple of years that have many parents just wanting to get their kids graduated and out. If the kids play(ed) a varsity sport they were stuck there. As far as Orme, I heard they talked to him (pretty reliable source). My understanding is that he wasn't interested. I can understand why.
  2. I did forget about Fowler and realized that after I posted. Walters in her fifth year at St Patrick, only played her freshman year, so I can't really say what they lost in her. She was an average player as a freshman, but not playing for her Soph and Jr years, I can't really say whether or not she had improved to the level of the other seniors. She did get a nice life-sized banner on Friday, though, for her effort. As for the JV, I'm sure they have improved but they are way behind other JV squads. Height means nothing is you don't have fundamental skills. The same teams that defeated them this year will be playing them next year and those teams are improving as well. As for players that left the team/school for "one reason or another", of the five I named originally, I'm pretty sure all had to do with issues with the administration at St Pat. If it hadn't been for the administration, I feel sure four of those five would still have been playing for the Lady Saints. Again I'll say it St Patrick School is (was) the Lady Saints worst enemy. And the students and parents there are afraid to speak up when they see something is wrong. (Just keep your mouth shut so your child doesn't get picked on next.) As for the district, I would like to see Mason defeat St Patrick, simply because the school benefits financially and in my opinion the school shouldn't benefit, since they have done nothing to help those seniors have the great season they should have had, except to screw it up for them. You are right when you say that everything was set up for this year. Douglas, Tolle, and Coach Douglas have worked their butts off year round and deserved a better Senior season, but the egos of a couple of people at the school/church got in the way. But then again, a lot of people just sat by and watched for fear would be the next to be picked on by the administration. What a shame.
  3. Weak officiating? I don't know. If you ask me, St Patrick Lady Saints worst enemy is not the officials......their worst enemy is St Patrick School. The Lady Saints lost several players this year and they have themselves to blame. With Hamm, Hamilton, Stanfield, Yeary, Swolsky no longer on the team.......well, I think their season could have ended with a much better record and possibly a second All A region title. All of the above named would have been a big help to the lady Saints team. As for the JV at St Pat, next year will not be a pretty season. I do think they will win the district next week, but then again the 39th district is very weak. Mason County has been doing better, so who knows? Just my opinion.
  4. Mason has a deeper bench and if they can get St Pat in foul trouble they could have a chance, considering the Mason coach realizes that she has talent on the bench and decides to use it.
  5. Not sure I understand the "three time defending Saints". St Patrick has been in the finals the last three years but only won the championship once, last year. Sounds like Brossart has a lot of talent coming up. They should do well the next couple of years. Good Luck, girls!
  6. I agree. They may seem to be struggling right now but I think time will be the factor that helps them the most. Once everyone is healthy and they have had the chance to play together as a healthy team, their game will surely improve. Good luck ladies!
  7. I was suprised since Bracken County brings back all their starters from the end of last season and St Patrick lost starters Mosler and Hamilton and several key bench players. Maybe Bracken was just having an off night.???
  8. Good luck to Kelsey Carmack. I hope she has a healthy season.
  9. What other games are being played at Rupp this Saturday?
  10. That's good to hear about Menke. Maybe Moore will as well.
  11. So Moore and Menke won't return their Sr. year? Maybe they will reconsider.
  12. What teams are there? Does anyone have game results? Who looks good? Who doesn't?
  13. I wonder if part-time is even an option where he works? I don't know if I have ever known anyone with his job to be part time? I know at times they have had part-time people who have been seasonal help. I can't imagine what the coaching job would pay but it would have to pay pretty darn good if I had his job for me to go to part time, plus there is the loss of benefits at most jobs if you are only part-time as opposed to full time. But not knowing his employers policies, I really can't say. Aanyway, I've always liked Brian and I see that he has done well coaching the grade school team he has and I think the kids and parents all seem to like him.
  14. If i heard right, Littleton already said he couldn't coach jr high b/c of scheduling around his job.
  15. I agree, if the hand checks and reach-ins were called, girls would have to learn how to play a clean defense or be on the bench with five fouls. If the refs would call the fouls, it might nip it and then you wouldn't be there all night.
  16. I saw Brossart play recently and was suprised at how they had their hands all over their opponent every time they tried to bring the ball down the floor, and they weren't even whistled for it when most of the time they were slapping their opponents arms or pushing them in the back or sides. and yes, the opponent was whistled a couple of times for extending their arm to keep the stangs at bay. I hate to watch that type of play. I really isn't basketball to me. It used to be that hand checks/reach-ins were fouls. Not anymore. How sad for the game of basketball that it has become this way. Good Luck to Tibbs in the future.
  17. You are correct. Douglas was ill and tried to play but it was obvious she had used up everything she had in the first few minutes of the game, she left the game early never to return. Tolle was also sick, she is battling something, not sure what exactly, but I'm pretty sure was made a visit to the doctor in the past few days. There may have been more that were sick but they are the only two that I know for sure.
  18. full obituary here...... http://www.maysvillekybbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12277 It is my understanding that the Ledger Independent will be doing a story about him for tomorrow's edition. http://www.maysville-online.com
  19. I agree that NCC's shooting woes were a result of the Saints defense. The saints played great defense as did NCC, which made it hard for both teams to play effective offense. Ncc's press resulted in many turnovers for the Saints, but on the other side of the court the Saints defense under the basket put a damper on NCC's shooting. I think experience made the difference as well. NCC had girls who have played in this tournament for two or three years, and the Saints seemed to have some jitters stepping on the McBrayer floor for the first time. I think the Saints first quarter of play was evidence of that. Overall, it was a good game and I think the Saints surprised many by not getiing beat by 20 or 30 points. A different first quarter and who knows what the outcome may have been?
  20. I wouldn't worry about it Sumo. Most St. Patrick fans on this thread are well aware that it is not Mason County fans that are doing the complaining. It is mostly Bracken County people (and maybe, not exactly sure, a Pendelton county "coach") who can't find enough wrong wiith St Patrick so they have to make up things that they supposedly do to other schools to try to discredit Douglas and her team. So while we're on the subject, how many times in the last three years, that you remember has the St. Patrick team sat behind the Mason County bench in their traveling suits in their "ploy to intimidate"? Maybe my memory is fuzzy, but I can't remember one time. Correct me if I am wrong..... and I am not saying that to be sarcastic, I just don't ever remember it happening, and maybe it has, but I 'm sure if it has, it was just coincidence. There is no "intimidation ploy" that I am aware of. I do agree that the only reason they sat where they did because because it was the only place in the stands that would accomodate them.
  21. Well, I am pretty, no absolutely sure it is the truth because that info came directly from players during and after each game, and I will try to find some video so I can show you what I saw when he from behind, put both hands on a players waist and physically moved her out from in front of his bench before the ref handed her the ball for the inbounds pass between his seat and the scorer's table. Even if the ref wanted her to move, it wasn't pk's place to move her. As for the comments he made, unless you were on the floor playing or referee-ing, how would you know, unless you are pk or one of his players and then I doubt you would admit it happened? But you seem to know way more than I do, so I guess you win. I'm just a sore loser. :( I will admit defeat. "So where are you going to celebrate your victory" And I won't explain that last comment in quotes because since you are so knowledgeable on this subject you will know what I am referrring to, or maybe not. Good day!
  22. That's just ridiculous.... I was at that game sitting in the top row acrosss the gym on the Mason county fan side. IT WAS HOT, DARK, AND CROWDED. The Saint Pat team and their parents wanted to sit together and the only place where there was room for all of them was behind the Mason County bench. They contemplated whether or not to sit there and finally decided to go ahead. If Mason County doesn't want opposing fans or teams behind their bench then maybe they should do like they do at the fieldhouse and put their fan section (or maybe their band) there instead of across the gym. To insinuate that it was a ploy to intimidate is ridiculous. If you were really there you would have noticed that behind their bench was the only place were there enough seats. Plus they paid their admission, I think they are allowed to sit anywhere they want. I didn't see a seat assignment on my ticket. And as far as "marching across the gym"...... as more of their team arrived and it was evident that they would not all fit in the dark hot rafters of the mason county fan side of the gym, they got up and moved. That's all it was...plain and simple. Sounds like some people need to quit making more of it than what it really was. And they don't "constantly" sit behind the Mason County bench, so I don't know where you got that information, but if the Mason County bench is that insecure then maybe all teams should go to games and sit behind them. It must have bothered them or there wouldn't be so much talk about it. BTW, most of, if not all the SPS players were rooting for Mason County to win, but I'm sure you can all find something negative to say about that as well. As far as Douglas saying a good record at the beginning of the season doesn't mean "sqaut", that was most likely in reference to the Saints starting out undefeated for about the first 10 games last season and then things taking a turn as the Saints went into tournaments in January and February. I don't think she was referring to Bracken County's team or record, but more likely her own. And while we are on the subject of RESPECT......what about Bracken County's coach and his comments he makes during the game about opposing players. Last year he taunted certain St Pat players during the All A game everytime they passed his bench. He even moved one of them before an inbounds pass. And this year he was at it again. Making insulting comments about one of the SPS players when she was in earshot of him. So lets talk about low class and setting a good example for your players. I'll be the first to say I have no respect for him. Jetcat is right when he says assumptions are made.......people who don't know facts need to keep their assumptions to themselves.
