  1. I have to agree that the play off the bench was a big help for the Saints. Tolle should also be mentioned. She hit a three in a 9-0 run that fueled the Saints momentum. In the 1st qaurter they couldn't seem to get going and they couldn't even buy a basket at times.
  2. IDK, maybe they are trying to score. SP wasn't shooting well the entire game. They did improve after the frist quarter, but their shooting was definately lacking. Here's a question, "Why did the refs repeatedly let Sosby elbow and shoulder into her opponent on several occasions calling a blocking foul on SP?" I agree it wasn't pretty. Saints having an off night for sure. Ch Payne picking up a third foul so early in the game really seemed to take a toll. When she came back in the game in the second half, she was definately less agressive and out of her game. But Ciera Payne came on strong in the second to make up for it. Must be a twin thing.
  3. I'll give you Boone and NCC, but Conner???? Conner only beat St. Henry by three and St. Patrick beat St. H by 17 and in all the polls I've seen Conner and St. H are ranked about the same. NKY coaches poll has Conner at 8 and St H at 9, Lit has Conner at 6 and St. H at 7. Boone and NCC handed Brossart big losses, but could they have been bigger? When a team gets that far ahead, they usually put their subs in and let up on an opponent, so I think it is hard to tell anything from a loss that big. Could NCC and Boone won by a bigger margin in this game? Who knows? I haven't seen the box scores to know how early NCC or BC had a comfortable lead to know if this could have been the case.
  4. No, they are one of the three that I think this tournament boils down to. But looking at their schedule I can't really make an educated prediction. They do have 8 wins but 5 of those are against what I would consider weak teams, two are against teams that I really don't know enough about to know what kind of team they are (one in the 5th region and one in the 11th) and a 3 point win against Campbell County. Four Brossart losses, three which were not close games (all 25 points or more) and one that was a 9 point loss to East Jessamine, who by the way has a losing record so far this year. So I really don't know what to think of Brossarts chances. I won't see Brossart play tonight so I guess I'll have to wait and see.
  5. I wouldn't say it is wide open but I would narrow it down to two or three of the eight remaining
  6. I thought you had it right and the rest of us had it wrong. I always thought her family (grandparents, aunts and uncle) spelled it "Lykins"
  7. What about the fat guy????? Meat Loaf or Meatloaf? I just couldn't get away from that from the very first post. Guess I'll google him.
  8. I think the referees started out great calling some elbow throwing and shoving from the starting buzzer. I think the fact that they nipped it so soon kept it from becoming a habit later in the game. But there was some elbow throwing that went unnoticed by the officials. I heard the Blondie comment, but in proximity to where I was sitting I will say I don't think it could have been TMD. I will also say that even though every player except 2 on the St. Pat JV are also on the varsity team, Coach Douglas is not going to pass up the opportunity to get a game in.
  9. Likins has been playing well. Is she starting? They will have their hands full with Madison Central.
  10. Which bracken game are you referring to b/c I was the one at Villa Madonna and St. Pat had a 9 point lead at the end of the 1st, an 18 point lead at the half, a 27 point lead at the end of the 3rd and went on to win by 32. So it was never close and the lead kept building. The first Bracken County game wasn't really won by a large margin so I think the score did reflect the game pretty well. As for St. Henry, I don't remember it being a close game either. The Saints led that game by ten or more at the end of every quarter. But you are right, the score in this (Paris) game was not reflective of the game at all. It was too close for comfort.
  11. I expected the final score to be closer, but the game itself, after Paris came back into it in the first quarter, was close until the middle of the fourth quarter when the Saints defense kicked into high gear and took control. It was a good game, though. Good Luck Saints!
  12. ....and since there was a coaching change at Paris, apparantly the new coach and/or the AD were not aware. The game was agreed on by Coach Douglas and Coach Brooks back in the spring when the teams drew pairings at an "All A" meeting.
  13. St. Pat wasn't the only one(s) who thought there was a JV game, KHSAA sent referees for the JV game that wasn't supposed to happen. Easy money for them since they got the night off with pay!
  14. slow down.......Brossart and St. Pat both have to win a game before Friday.
  15. By "mustle" I assume you mean if the officials let Paris play physical....??? If so then the officials aren't doing their job very well. Basketball isn't supposed to be intentionally or unintentionally physical, that's why they call physical contact "fouls". Also, do you mean St. Pat hasn't played any physical (as in teams that would hurt them, literally) teams? Or do you mean they haven't played any good (skilled) teams?
  16. I really don't think it has stolen the thunder of the Varsity game at all. I do think it is good, however, that the issue was cleared up before fans and a bus full of girls showed up in Paris for a game that wasn't going to happen. Much like the discussion on this thread of the site of the game has enlightened those who thought the game was going to be played in Bracken County due to an incorrect posting on the scoreboard and in the Ledger.
  17. Sorry but as of last night there was a JV game, The JV game was agreed upon during the "All A" draw in spring of 2009. When there is a play-in game there is the option of both teams agreeing on a JV game (which was agreed upon). St. Pat was notified just this morning that there would not be a JV game.
  18. Good question? I was wondering the same.
  19. There is a JV game at 6 pm. St. Patrick's bus and team are traveling to Paris for this game. Riherds scoreboard has the game being played at Bracken. That is where the confusion is coming from. That is probably where the Ledger got there info also.
  20. GRC called it b/c their parking lot was not cleared, from what I heard.
  21. But in paNDA's defense,he first line of the post is "Girls Basketball Northern Kentucky"
  22. Okay, so back on topic. It was a win and that's commendable. What I did notice was that neither team seemed to be playing really well and GRC was having a really bad night (or if that was typical play for GRC then they are having a really bad season). If you have followed GRC this season you would see that they have only manged to beat 4 teams for a total of 5 wins. Last year this would have been a "big win" given the fact that GRC had a stronger program and Mason County was in a rebuilding phase after the loss of Chambers Litzinger and Cline. This year's game was exactly what I would have expected based on the season each team is having. I expected a game that could have gone either way and in the end that's what it was. GRC, for whatever reason doesn't seem to be the GRC of the past. GRC lost two to graduation and losing the older Rogers girl I'm sure has made a difference, but Mason County comes back with everyone from last season. A team needs to have players that can step up and fill the void and GRC didn't seem to have much depth in that respect. At least this is my observation after watching the game Monday night. I will agree with mcpapa...#4 Brittney Black can shoot! And P. Rogers is a solid player as well. But beyond that on Monday there wasn't much else offensively for GRC. But on any given day things can change and that is true for any team.
  23. That's a given in the 16th if you are a team not from the 16th.
