Pros and cons of all tournament teams
I agree. A coach may choose based the season as a whole and not the tournament. A coach may also choose based on emotions (a players senior year) or even favorites.

10th Region Tourney Host
LOL:laugh::laugh: That explains the chicken bones scattered along that stretch of US 68 every March!!!!! What do other regions do when the their tournament is moved each year?? I feel sure that there are differences in the seating capacity of gyms in those regions and distance issues as well. Do people in other regions feel it should be held at the largest facility every year? I think everyone is so comfortable with the 10th being held in Mason that it's a hard habit to break.

Campbell Co 46 Bracken Co. 44 Region 10
Pressrow, I agree 100%..... Below is my post from an earlier thread about the best announcers at games. I was referring to the Campbell County HS announcer......I assume it is the same announcer doing the tournament this week. "I was there (Campbell Co.) for a game and was wishing I brought ear-plugs. I also didn't need him to explain after every "jump-ball" call why the ball was being given to the team it was being given to......."due to the alternate possession rule Campbell County will in-bounds the ball". I think most people understand the purpose of the possession arrow with out being told over and over during the game. Maybe it was just because it was so loud I didn't want him to say any more than he absolutely had to." Glad to know I am not the only person that was annoyed by this. Pretty bad that a free throw shooter had the ball and he was still talking. Was he as loud at the middle school gym as he is at the high school? Hopefully the volume at the middle school doesn't go as high and you didn't need your ear plugs. As far as the 50/50, if it couldn't be read during the half or between quarters (due to the band), he should have waited until there was a time-out called. Anyway......Congrats to both teams!

Rules question????
Thanks for the input. Someone told me the player has to be warned first, I didn't know if that was an actual rule or not. The foul btw, was a shove after the whistle (but not the type of shove you would think would get a T.) I guess that goes back to some officials being more "sensitive" than others.

Rules question????
Does a ref have to give a player a warning before calling for a technical foul on that player?

Bracken Co. v/s St. Pat (39 District)
I would have to agree.... and as far as injuries go, St Pat has a young team and they have a good bench that has players that are very talented and can do the job if they have to. They have a several of girls that usually play JV and then turn around and play a good portion of the varsity game with one girl (either Cierea Payne or Klee) starting both games. So with no JV game those girls will be good and rested. I'm not going to predict , but I think it should be a close game that could go either way.

Trevor Setty?
Are you referring to the Elliott County game? I thought Billy G. was at that game to watch Ferguson.

Which 8 teams make the 10th Region Tournament?
I think several of these games could be a toss-up: Nicholas Co. has played Harrison twice this season, the first match up Harrison won 58 to 24, the second match-up Nicholas ended up on top 52 to 51. Nicholas County on a good night can really lite up the boards. Deming and Pendleton....Pendleton knocked off Deming 49-43 at Pendelton. Pretty close. G.R. Clark beat Paris the first time ou 44-38 in Paris, but in the next meeting on GRC's home floor Paris gets the win 41-38. St. Patrick has beat Bracken twice this year by almost the same score 54-45 and 55-45, so Bracken will be looking to avenge those losses. Could be interesting!

Erin Carmack Breaks Scoring Record At Deming
I can't explian, all I know is that someone very close to Erin told me about a month ago that she wasn't interested in playing college ball when I asked if any colleges had made an offer.

Question for boys/girls bball parents
I don't agree, the few people I know that are keeping stats are doing it for their own reference and I have never known them to use their stats to bully a coach about playing time or for any other negative reason. So I don't agree that the majority are doing it for that reason. On the other hand, I do know parents that complain to the coach about the lack of playing time their child gets and I think they should start keeping stats, becuase then they might realize why their child doesn't get the time they think they should. Maybe I'll keep stats for them, but no video because they will definately get the shot of the overturned bag of popcorn. LOL

Question for boys/girls bball parents
I think it is teaching a child a lot about teamwork. A child who doesn't score very many points may be learning from these stats that they still making an improtant contribution by rebounding, assists, steals, etc. If that is the arguement then why keep individual points in a game. Why not just keep points in the books as a team. I do know some coaches who do not like to be bothered looking up everybodys stats after a game. But I hear lots of kids (and parents) brag about how many points they had, and that is the only stat that most papers print at the end of the story about the game, so those players never have to ask the coach for their points total. So with so much empahasis put on scoring why would a player play defense at all....just score. Maybe the kids contributing in other ways would like to feel like their contribution helps the team, even though players get very little or no glory for anything other than points. So if a parent keeps stats to help encourage their child, big deal. If a parent wants to keep track of stats, what is the harm in that. I don't do it personally, and I have no problem with parents that do. I can't even videotape a game because I can't keep the camera going in the right direction, I get too caught up in watching the game.

What are you referring to being the "silliest thing you ever heard"?

Carroll Co. 52 Williamstown 40
Funny you would use that word "stiff"! Some people only dress that well for their funerals. Sounds like it was far from a funeral for the Seniors of CC. Congrats on the win! :thumb:

Question for boys/girls bball parents
I know more parents that have confronted a coach about their childs playing time that didn't keep stats than parents who confronted the coach that have kept stats. If that is why a parent is keeping stats, then what are you gonna do??? I'm sure the coach can handle it. I'm pretty sure the most coaches get more complaints from non-stat-keeping parents. I wouldn't assume that if a parent is keeping stats, it is for the purpose of hassling the coach. I'd say most are just doing it for personal reference and I know some schools don't even keep stats on some aspects of the game, and if your child excels on defense but isn't a big scorer, it may be helpful to be able to point out to a child how many steals they had when they are bummed out because they didn't score. (after all, scoring gets all the glory.) If you are a coach, answer this honestly.....how many times when parents complain to you are they quoting their "little paper of stats" as opposed not???

Officals Complaints?
I know that almost all the games I have attended this year have been taped by one team or the other. Can you submit a tape to the KSHAA if there is an exceptionally bad official and you have him on tape? It seems like you should be able to, because it is a safety issue for the players in some cases where officials are letting the rough play get out of hand.

Big Crowd in Maysville
I, for one, would attend the regional finals in Mason County just because it was close to my home. I would not drive out of town for the finals, because honestly it doesn't interest me that much to go if a team that interests me isn't participating. With that said, I will not travel to Mont Co. for the finals. I would guess a lot of people I know will not travel either. Most of my friends only went because it was something to do in Maysville. I can only wonder how many other people around the Maysville area only attended because it was something to do and will not attend the finals if they have to drive to Mont. Co?? Seating capacity may not be an issue. Let Mont. Co. host the tournament and see what happens. :ylsuper:

10th Region Freshman Champs: Deming High School Lady Black Devils.
Smallest schools and maybe the smallest benches... and to have to play two games in one day with the same 6 or 7 players. I know St. Pat only had 7 players total and I think Deming only had 8 (maybe 9). Congrats to both teams!

10th Region Freshmen Tournament
See, that's just it.......I wasn't believing talk from a kid. That's why I posed the question here, to see if what I heard had any validity. BTW, you make sound like anything a kid says is a lie, just because a kid says it. And as far as getting someone in trouble....I don't know what that is about???? There is no rule that says you can't bring players that have played up and play them in the freshmen tournament, at least that was what other posters have said earlier in this thread, but then again the previous posters could all be kids, and if they are kids, they must be lying, too.

10th Region Freshmen Tournament
Good question, considering they play Montgomery Co. that evening. If Mason County advances in the tournament to play on Sunday, will they bring the girls down then? I know they haven't played for coach Butler this season, but I heard earlier in the season there was a comment made by a player (and I don't know if she serious or if there was any truth to the comment) that Mason Co. was bringing some of the girls "down" to play a freshman game. Since the game was never scheduled, there is no way to know if this was true but the fact that there was talk of bringing them down for that game makes me wonder if they would bring them down to play on Sunday? I can see where there would be issues with girls and parents at any school that brought girls down from JV and varsity who hadn't played on the freshmen team all season. BTW, does anyone have records for the freshmen teams who are playing in the touramnet?
