I don't know a favorite, but how many freshman teams actually play alot of freshman ladies on their teams? Someone told me at a Montgomery Co. game last week that Clark Co. only had two or maybe three freshman on their freshman team, as four of their freshman play varsity and don't play any freshman ball at all.

Otis is correct. A good number of 10th region teams are filled with MSers.

 

The MS season is in the fall, so the best MSers will move up and play the freshmen season.

If they have them to bring back down from the varsity you can probably expect to see some freshmen from the varsity teams playing this weekend. There is no rule that says you can't play those freshmen by bringing them off the varsity.

 

St. Patricks Mosler, will she be playing? She plays JV and Varsity along with the freshmen team. I am thinking she is hurt, correct?

I know there is no rule against freshmen who play jv or varsity to play freshmen basketball. What I can't understand is why would a player play all three?

Shortage of girls...small school, to name two reasons. To clarify, Mosler would start for JV and sub for varsity. That's not so unusual, I see a lot of JV players come back out and sub for varsity. And since freshmen games are scheduled on different days than JV and varsity, she could also play in those games. There are only 15 or 16 girls on the St. Pat team from 8th grade through senior.

The same gentleman who told me about Clark Co and their girls said that Clark Co was not bringing their freshmen girls who play varsity, as the varsity and junior varsity play Saturday evening. He also indicated that all freshmen girls at Montgomery Co do play on their freshmen team. So from that alone would probably make them the "oldest" team in the tournament with the majority of schools using middle schoolers.

GRC's JV and Varsity play Brossart Saturday night in Alexandria. Brossart will pull their girls down that play up in the Freshmen Tournament, for they always have in soccer and other venues. They are also scheduled to play a Freshmen game at 4:30 against each other. If GRC beats Campbell in the Freshmen game they will play Brossart in the tournament.

Sounds like some schools can get away with this without any controversy amongst the parents, and the players. This has to create some bad harmony when you pull players down that don't normally play a freshmen schedule just to play in a tournament. I know this is perfectly legal to do, just the fairness has to factor in towards the kids that would normally play a freshmen schedule and a freshmen schedule only.
