Team Camps
I went last night to the Cooper camp to see Tibbs play, since I didn't get to see her play at all last season. I was disappointed that she was not there. I was told that she may have been at the Jr. /Sr. all star game, as well. Not sure if I will make it back this week. Does anyone know if she will be playing with the Scott team the rest of the week? If so, and if I know what night, I may be able to get back to Cooper later in the week to see her play. And I agree that main gym was cold, but I bet the players didn't mind.

Why do regions trade officials?
They should be prepared for these kind of things at every game......!!!!:ohbrother:

Why do regions trade officials?
Why would an official being doing homework? What does the team's record, players coaches or stats depth of their bench, whatever have to do with his/her job which is to call the game fair that game and that game only based on how the teams are playing in that game. Not the game the week before, not because they have a "star" player, or whatever. I think coaches should be the only ones in the game doing homework or "scouting" a team.

Concessions at The Fieldhouse?
I personally think the difference is the endzones. I have known many players over the years that have said the depth perception is something it takes some time getting used to (when shooting outside) simply because you have a glass backboard with nothing behind it. Where most gyms have a wall or a a stage with a curtain within 6 or 10 feet of the backboard, there is just open space behind the glass at the fieldhouse when you are on the floor looking at the goal. Maybe that is one reason. At least when the teams go to Rupp they all have the disadvantage of the depth percetion issue. In comparison, most football fields are the same and don't involve throwing a ball through a hoop that isn't must bigger than the ball itself. The kick through the goalpost doesn't have to be quite as accurate.

Concessions at The Fieldhouse?
Since the late 70's I can only remember Mason County students sitting where they presently sit. I do remember that the cheerleaders used to cheer where the Mason County home bench is now, but what I can't remember is where the bench was. Was it in front of the stage?

Scott 60 Mason County 28
So, I'm catching up on old posts and the comments on this thread caught my interest. These statments confuse me. Ther seems to be a lot of contradiction here. From the player (Moss not Jehlik) and pregame show (Boone not Montgomery) to the idea that Mason County's administration would be upset and as a result the comment would have been mentioned on this site sooner. And by saying that just because a listener heard it on the radio and wasn't "there" somehow makes them wrong in what they heard.... By being there you heard the following "the fact is that he said, aside from the player getting hurt outside, that there was very little chance to stop her from what she wanted to do on the court." How did that sound so different on the radio? Also, praying isn't a blasphemous act. Praying to win, play well or even that the oppponent doesn't play well is not blasphemous. If you were praying that the opponent turned their ankles on the way in the gym that would still not be blasphemous, just cruel and un-Christian-like. Blasphemy--to speak disrespectfully about God and/or things sacred that pertian to God. Basketball (although this is KY and some may disagree,)is not sacred. Lastly, I have to disagree, I do think you called the comment ridiculous. Just my perception of your comment.

Scott 60 Mason County 28
I think Mason County spent a lot scouting the Saints.....maybe should've spent some time watching Scott, as well. Maybe they didn't because of distance or b/c they had already played and beat Scott so they thought they didn't need to. Last year didn't St. Patrick beat Scott in the regular season, only to lose to them in the opening round of the region tournament. As far as upset parents, why would they be upset now? Haven't they been to any games this season? I've only been to a handful of MC games and I think Butcher has got a technical foul at every game I have been to. He is constantly screaming at players or the refs. When I listen on the radio, I can hear him in the background, screaming. I can only imagine how high his blood pressure is during a game. Is it safe to say Mason County will not be scheduling Scott next year in their regular season?

Would be a long walk if they did. Even better, they get to find transportation to the gym.

A lot of players were overlooked and if you ask me several on the list shouldn't have been there.

Mason County/Saint Patrick Predictions 2/23
1997.... that was the year St. Patrick beat Mason twice and were the district champions. SP beat Mason in the MCIT and then I don't remember if St. Pat beat them in the district or regular season. I do remember St Patrick playing either Mason or Fleming in the district final on a very rainy Saturday, which was the 10 inches of rain that brought on the '97 flood. What I can't remember is if St. Patrick beat Mason to get to the finals or if Fleming did, or if St Pat played Fleming in the semi-finals. It's all a blurr. Can someone help me out here????

39th District Tournament. Who will win?
I don't think St Pat's chance are all that amusing. Let's examine that comment. Sice February 1 the Lady Saints are 4-4. At GRC and against Brossart they were without their leading scorer Ch. Payne, and with Swanker back for BB anf Jewell Rogers back for GRC. They were without their tallest player (Hamilton) against Montgomery (who they only lost to by 4) and against Fleming it was Ch. Paynes first game back and Hamilton was sick on the bench. I really don't think you can count them out, yet. I'm not saying I think they will win, I am saying either team could win the cross-town matchup. So now let's look at Mason County. Since Februaury 1 they are 3-2. Their wins are against Deming, Bourbon and Paris. Not what I would call impressive wins, but wins,...... just games they should have won and did. Their losses were to Boone and Montgomery. Now if you are still amused by predictions on this thread and you want to analyze a team's recent schedule compared to their chances of a run at the district title, maybe you should look at the comments giving Bracken the nod. If you think St Patrick has played a weak schedule, (btw they did beat Rowan on Friday, you forget to mention that) why not look at Bracken's February schedule? Since they "All A" they are 6-0. Looks pretty impressive until you look at the schedule. They've beat Augusta (twice), Deming, Buckhorn, Llyod Memorial and Paris (squeaking out a 1 point win there). Nothing impressive about their February run. At that, I would have thought the Paris win would have been a bigger margin of victory. I am not saying that it means BC can't win the district, just couldn't see why it was such an amusing suggestion that St. Patrick could.???:idunno: I'd say any of the three teams could pull it out.

The Montgomery County / St Patrick game was in Mt Sterling. An at home win for the Indians.

St. Patrick 60 Fleming County 54
No kissing in the game but one of the SP players did have a FC player intentionnally spit on him. Maybe he couldn't lean in close enough for the kiss?:lol: Isn't that a criminal offense since bodily fluids are involved? Doesn't say much for the character of the FC players.

Very nice sportsmanship
Another classy move (or at least I think so) was last night at Fleming County's senior night, St Patrick agreed to let FC get the tip and pass it to a Senior waiting under the basket so she could score. I guess the story was that she has been on the DL with a knee injury and was not allowed to play but they wanted her to be able to score on Sr. night. In return FC was to let St. Patrick score the next 2 points. Not sure of the rest of details. I'm not sure how many spectators knew what was going on. It seemed like a pretty odd couple of possessions with no one playing defense.

Very nice sportsmanship
I think St. Patrick has been doin this for a couple of years, maybe longer.

Referees talking to players
I also think compliments should be made after the game during the handshake and not during play. I just think a coach should only be addressing his own players during a game. And besides, a compliment is a compliment, and that is a positive. It's almost like saying it's okay to push a player down after a whistle as long as you help another player up later in the game. Why should there be the "bad" at all? Would be nice if there was just the "good". But I realize this isn't a perfect world. If a coach is doing something unsportsmanlike should it be overlooked because he/she, or another coach says something nice at another time? After all these are the adults that kids are looking at as examples. As adults shouldn't they set good examples?

Referees talking to players
I agree. If you know all players by both teams and plan to address them all by their first name then by all means, go ahead. But if you only know one or a few and if they are on the same team then it really looks bad. Maybe it should be another thread but what do you think about an opposing coach talking to your players during play in a, for lack of a better word, "taunting" manner? I know of a game where this happened several times during the game when the players were in front of the opposing team's bench. It was messing with the players concentration to hear someone addressing them at that end of the court followed by smart alec comment, which is what I'm sure the coach was trying to do. I just thought it was really poor sportsmanship on the part of the coach.

Not sure. He was still hospitalized last I heard. Already had a couple of surgeries and more surgery scheduled in the future.

Elizabethtown 128 Fort Knox 13
Good question. Why was this game scheduled? Maybe because you schedule games the year in advance in most cases and last year before deployments and changes in the Ft Knox demographics, maybe Ft. Knox had a stronger team. You really don't know until the season starts as to what you are up against. So going into this game knowing that Ft Knox was not a strong team, E-town should have brought their Freshman and let them get some varsity minutes or maybe even cancelled the game, but they didn't and that along with the starters stats and the comments made after the game are what makes this look so bad. What did the E-town players learn in this game. Nothing, as far as improving their skills?

It doesn't suprise me that there are people taht think it's OK to beat a team by 115 points. There are so many things wrong with the world, nothing shocks me anymore. And as far as these people raising children......I won't even go there.

Yea. I didn't realize the question had been answered on that thread until after I posted on this thread. Thanks, though.
