The last time Nicholas Co was undefeated this far into the season, so was Berea. It was the 1999 season and Berea vs. Nicholas was the WLEXTV game of the week. Hope Berea can keep things together and see some success in the future but hope, and don't think, that starts this week!

Tenderloin at Nicholas Co is the best and melts in your mouth! Plus Mrs. Jane makes some great popcorn and if you have room, her homemade chili sauce is good on nachos and hot dogs. Sounds like a good supper the next 2 Friday nights for me!!!

Seniors Dalton Dailey and Zach Richardson

Don't think there is a reflection on the coaching. I don't want these to sound like excuses so I was skeptical about even responding... With Richardson and Dailey not in the backfield I don't think the O-line was as motivated as they should be. On paper NC looks very experienced however they've got a sophomore QB with close to 0 varsity experience as well as 2 linebackers, sophomore/junior, with 0 varsity experience. I think my BlueJackets will come around just possibly a slow start. Sites like this telling kids how good they are when they have never had much success can lead to some "entitlement" issues as well! As far as the coaching, Coaches Hop, Botner, and Sims do a great job with what's walking the halls at NCHS in male sports. They don't play a cupcake schedule, not the hardest schedule either, but usually beat the teams they should. I know each sport could really down there schedule which would lead to more wins but this would also hurt their chances in the post season!!!

I was born in 81 and remember the benches in the end zones at Mason Co., so I'm thinking late 80s. Glad to see the Nicholas Co. Gym listed on a few posts. I may be biased but for a very small county school it is extremely nice!!!

I watched my Bluejackets play within one possession of a Charles Thomas led Harlan team in 1994. He was a great player. I was young and remember him stopping to talk to the Nicholas Co fans after the game and the bus about left him!

Don't won't to make light of this thread but this lil 10th Region guy knows one thing you guys don't. It's spelled Reinhardt... Haha Good Luck to both teams! Sounds like it may be a great game with the eventual 9th Region All A Championship on the line! Hope someone provides updates so I can follow along.

I will say that I was very impressed with how Coach Code handled the situation. It aggravated him greatly and it took him everything he had to keep his cool when disciplining the kid. It wouldn't surprise me if the kid came off the bench tonight as part of his punishment. I'd say Coach Code did a great job on Friday preparing the Mustangs for the physical play of Paris however I'm going to have to say Go Hounds!, and that really stings coming from a BlueJacket! No pun intended...

If you're talking about the kid that went into the game the last 1:30 he was actually trying to kick the ball and a foul was called on him, which should have been, but he also took an elbow to the lip... I really hope you're another student-athlete getting on here to take shots at other student-athletes. If you're an adult... Well, may God bless you!!! WOW

Nicholas Co. has to play the most perfect of perfect games ever and I've seen crazier things happen in high school sports! Only way to slow Paris down is to be extremely physical and aggressive. Just hope to see a great well played game and a super fun rivalry renewed with district play on what will be Coach Hop's 50th Birthday!!!

Turnover/takeaways... Guess it's in the eyes' of the beholder. Guess I should have stated that they were the difference in the Brossart/Nicholas game. There was another thread for that game two weeks ago and we shall move on! Brossart got my congrats and they earned that win. Hope we have two great high school football games Friday night to show that this is a well paired district, however the playoffs only look good for the #1 seed because the super district to our east is STOUT!!!

If Bracken controls time of possession and don't turn ball over this could be the 1A upset of the week. Nicholas controlled the Brossart game pretty much from start to finish. Take out the 6 careless turnovers and it's all Nicholas County! Gotta give props to Brossart tho, they kept slugging away and came out on top. I think this game will be closer than many expect!!! Good Luck to both teams!

James Rodriguez from Bourbon Co., hit 91 in btm of 9th in 2000 district vs. Nicholas. After 100+ pitches I'm sure!!! Jeremy Sowers was nasty, watched him in 2000 Final Four against Kiser of Boyd Co. Gotta give some props to my teammates Josh Fryman and Shane Smith of Nicholas Co. as well. I hated facing Glen Scott of Harrison Co.!!! Best pitcher I ever faced though was Scott Wade who played at UK with Webb. Faced him in TN summer ball. Low 90s with a 75 mph change up and curve that buckled your knees...

2003 George Rogers Clark graduate and former Ballard Memorial Coach Matt Botner. Coach Botner comes off a successful season at Ballard Memorial (17-13) and returns back home to the 10th region. Coach Botner has accepted the job but is still working on moving back from Paducah. He won't be able to make the summer league at Nicholas this week but will hopefully get to spend a few successful days with the BlueJackets next week!

Scooter Charles and Travis Sims are 2 coaches who are under rated as coaches in the 10th region. Both guys beat the teams they should and compete with the much larger schools year in and year out! To my knowledge neither have won 10th Region Coach of the Year but are very deserving each year. Congrats Coach Charles and the Polar Bears on their district championship! We all know you will represent the small schools in the 10th region very well next week! Go Polar Bears!!!

Brown and Stroub are the best I've seen. To take a little off of what June said, when the game is on the line would you rather have Stroub at the plate or Brown on the mound? Both are good players and even better young men. Co-players maybe?
