  1. Nicholas at Nicholas always tough. Too many wild cards in this one to pick a winner. What if the twins get hot? Or Bretz decides to have a big night? No Kauinui again, alot of rebounds to make up for. Start the varsity,jv, or freshmen. Way to thin a limb for a big bear to go out on.
  2. I would have to agree with the general consesus. A boat load of missed opprotunities and plenty of unforced turnovers. Way too many bad decisions on passes that are just not there. I don't know if it's laziness, attitude, or what but there is just not much of playing as a unit. I know these girls have been questioned as far as their heart, I think that goes a little far. It takes a lot of heart to show up in that gym everyday, as well as a lot of sacrafice. The jv/freshmen players that came in with 5 min. to go did a heck of job. And were sure a pleasure to watch. The standout to me was J.Crawford. Really look forward to seeing this young lady grow on the ball floor. I do think you have to temper the enthusiasm with the frosh a little because you can play the game different at that point. Fouls really don't mean anything at that point and you can play with wild abandon. That said, They sure were something to watch! As for the error on Mains name that wasn't Pride's fault. He got bad info from Big Daddy ( BRAIN CRAMP). My apologies to Felicia and A-Town Pride. Congrats to the Lady Saints and Good Luck to both teams the rest of the season.
  3. I like the lady bears chances, even being at st. pat. I think they match up well against them. Also think that bracken can go a little deeper down the bench while maintaining quality on the floor. A close but winable game if Rutherford is contained.
  4. When Augusta balances out the scoring like that they can play with anybody.Might be the start of nice run for them. Gotta be prepared for those Saints though. I'm sure Coach Hinson will be guarding against any letdowns.
  5. Sounds like another one of those games that make the Panther Den a special place for High School basketball. Save my seat, I'll be heading over the hill again.
  6. I attended the game too. Didn't seem like the pressure bothered Deming too much. They just could not make any runs when they had the chance. Wasn't keeeping a running score tab on Kelsch but seemed like she totally dominated in the second half. No question as to who the team leader on the floor is either. She has really turned into the whole package.
  7. For me, no atomospere better than an Augusta / Bracken matchup at the Panther Den in Augusta. Right behind the bench, surrounded by a bunch of BGP'ers.
  8. Gotta finish.Leaving too many points off the scoreboard.
  9. Surprised here too. Like U REACH, not by the outcome but by how much the pressure bothered the guards. The twins, as well as Bretz, at Nicholas are normally pretty poised. Kelsch hit the weights in the off season and has just been a monster for the Lady Cats this year. Headed to Deming tonight to check out Pendleton and Deming. Will definetly take note of the Lady Cat pressure.
  10. Can't imagine that percentage was a whole lot better in the first either. I'd really like to see the line scores for that and the last few games, too. Anybody know who's responsiable for getting that info to the local newspapers. It never seems to get called in anymore. Win, lose, good and bad. Those girls all have families, friends, or just a b-ball fan like myself that like to see that info. Bracken really seems to be stuck on that starting 5 with just a rare exception here or there. I don't think it would hurt to try a few other combos and see what happens. It's not like we've been world beaters with what we've done so far. Any thoughts?
  11. Check out Hilltopper's thread Ky. Thorobred. I typed in all the groveling and crow eating I could. Congrats to your ladies on a well played game.
  12. Yes, that score is correct. It appears I'll be eating crow for supper tonight. Or bear as the case may be. Another prime example of picking with your heart instead of your head. Congrats to the Ladies on a well played game.
  13. Kane is listed at 6'10. Seems like it might be wise to get him somewhere close to the basket instead of playing point guard.
  14. Did Faulkner come back for another year and nobody told me.LOL
  15. I'm going with the Lady Bears 58-50. After 3 close losses at the Villa Madonna Christmas Tourney these ladies are hungry for a win.
  16. A very good team. Look forward to Feb. 9th. Should be an awesome game with Mason Co.. Worth every dollar paid at the door last year.
  17. First time I've got to see Mr. Miller on the floor this year. As good as advertised. Coach Fite had the Bears prepared, just facing way too many weapons.
  18. Feel the same Coach. My hometown Lady bears have been the victims of many of those points as well. Congrats to both Dee and Lacey. These two young ladies are just as classy off the court as they are on it. Two fine examples of all thats good in the high school sports arena.
  19. Congrats to the Lady Rebels on a great win. Really enjoy watching them play. Cirlce Feb. 9th on your calendar as the Lady Royals from Mason come visiting. Should be a great ballgame to be sitting in the bleachers for. Boone spoiled senior nite for Mason last year but man oh man what a game. Look forward to the rematch.
  20. How many turnovers in the 1st half alone? I like a fastbreaking offense but you have to take what a defense gives. Unwise decisions and forcing the ball when it's just not there rarely leads to points and is the very reason you see so many coaches eating Rolaids. Great game by D.Staggs though. A little more balance in the scoring and the Panthers will give a lot of teams fits. Great comeback to make it close game, a lesser team would have just checked out when they went down by 20.
  21. On a positive note, I was really encouraged by the way the Lady bears fought back and made all 3 games close. They were down 15,12, and 7 in the 1st quarter of each game but managed to fight back and make close games of all 3. Wasn't that long ago they would have have got on the bus after the 1st quarter and phoned in the rest. Also, to the folks at Villa Madonna: Great tournament again this year. Really enjoyed visiting your gym again. Look forward to next year.
  22. Bracken must have decided to keep #50 on the bus today.Just amazing that a kid can have a career point night in less than a half. And barely earns a quarter's worth of playing time the next day. Not the best incentive for strong play off the bench. Keep digging Lady bears - Good Luck tommorrow
