Wow, who scheduled this? Is this a makeup game for a previously canceled one that should have been played earlier?

From what I have seen in person, and from what my fellow BGP'rs have been posting in other threads, WV's McNeil seems like he is a pretty good player.

Nope, not for / from Williamstown, and not for / from Trimble neither. In fact, I was not at the ball game at all. Just asking questions is all. In my experience, basketball officials call a game tight when there is reason to do so. Having not been there I can only go on your obviously very biased opinion, but I doubt ANY referee comes into a game thinking they are going to blow a whistle on everything they see. After all, didn't yall pay your money to watch them officiate the game?

What lesson in life did they learn? Could it also be possible the refs 'had' to call all of those fouls for player safety and to manage a game that would have gotten out of hand?

Friend you are comparing UK-UL collegiate basketball to high school football popularity, and in my opinion it is not the same. Since we are talking football here, when was the last time that either UK - UL football played for a national title? On to the debate at hand, One poster here hit it on the head with football being more of a social event on a Friday night for a community. Folks are tailgating, catching up with old friends, talking and having a good time during what is generally a pleasant environment. Basketball is played when it is darn cold outside and not many are going to tailgate, and mull about socializing out doors. I have also seen that where the basketball team has some talent many of the small town community teams will come out in droves to support them night in and night out.... comparable to football attendance on a Friday night. However, if they are average talent, not many folks come to watch.

They both have bright futures in my opinion. Of course I was a lineman in my day and know little about what makes a good QB vs a Great QB. They both have the size, skills, and arm strength to play on many D1 schools. Someday, I would like to see them playing on a Saturday afternoon in the fall and say that I remember them when they were playing on the fields in northern KY demolishing the opposing defenses with ease. Good luck to both in there careers!

Does anyone know when the Gallatin County game tips off? I would like to see them play.

Gallatin County comes away a winner tonight beating Ludlow convincingly. Also, Carroll County wins somewhat easily over Dayton in the night cap game of round one. Good luck to both teams as they advance through the tournament.

Of the schools in this one, who is the favorite? I have to admit to not knowing much about most of the schools in this one, so I am going to say Gallatin County is my favorite to win it this year.

I have watched McNeil play in person and he is a good player. I think he will be really tough by the time he is a senior.

That drum line rocks. Watching the band and fans get jiggy in the stands is worth the price of admission IMO. lol.

I think the hand checks are a point of emphasis this year, at least that is my understanding. I am certain the referees are being told that as well.

Coach Jones is a very good coach and certainly gets the most out of his players that he can. Having said that, the players that he has had in the program have something to do with that 'getting the most out of them' comment. These kids love to play for this man, which speaks volumes more than ever will show in win/loss columns. So from the time they are little 'uns, they are taught to play in the system that he basically has worked to build. As has been mentioned several times, Jones rarely has a kid much taller than 6'3" or so. Jones adjusts his coaching and game plans to work the best with the talent he has to work with.

Sounds like you may be ready to go off half-cocked! Season is way to early to be predicting a trip to Rupp IMO. SK is a good team, but I am not yet ready to crown them region champs just yet.
