Williamstown 66 Trimble County 58

Featured Replies

Trimble County didn't lose this game it was taken from them. This was the worst officiated game ever played and a film of the game is being sent to KSHAA. 31 fouls were called in the first halve alone. One of the three officials made 90% of the calls. Webb from Trimble Co. scored 10 pts in the 1st quarter alone. Williamstown didn't have an answer for him except the ref's. The 2nd qtr. began the same for Webb and within 3 minutes he was on the bench with 2 fouls. I believe he fouled out in the 3rd qtr, followed by another Trimble player. Then another player was targetd by the refs and had to go to the bench. It was so bad that Trimble's JV squad had to play the 2nd quarter while the starters sat on the bench in foul trouble. Williamstown also had several bad calls. The had 2 players to foul out but late in the 4th quarter. There were so many fouls called in the 2nd quarter alone that it lasted approximately 15-20 minutes. This was an injustice to both teams . This was Williamstowns first win of the season and I wouldn't be proud of winning one like this. A fan of Williamstown actually talked to Trimble Co.s coach and expressed to him how bad the officating was. Trimble Co. players have learned a valuable lesson of life tonight.

What lesson in life did they learn? Could it also be possible the refs 'had' to call all of those fouls for player safety and to manage a game that would have gotten out of hand?

The game wasn't out of control because the players couldn't even play. One of the Williamstown players told a Trimble player that he couldn't believe all of the fouls. The lesson in life is that unfair things happen and you have to handle them with class which they did. You obviously must be from Williamstown. Williamstown won the game by shooting free thows. Trimble would have won by a great margin if the players could have played ball. Trimble Co. has only won 2 games this year, but we have played a strong schedule and played teams to help us to improve, which we have. The only thing that had gotten out of hand were the referee's. There were scouts from another team there watching and they were shaking there heads and laughing at all of the fouls on Trimble Co.

Nope, not for / from Williamstown, and not for / from Trimble neither. In fact, I was not at the ball game at all. Just asking questions is all. In my experience, basketball officials call a game tight when there is reason to do so. Having not been there I can only go on your obviously very biased opinion, but I doubt ANY referee comes into a game thinking they are going to blow a whistle on everything they see.

After all, didn't yall pay your money to watch them officiate the game?:p

I was at the game, and there were alot of tick tack foul calls but Trimble made very odd decisions with the basketball throughout the night and that is why they lost the basketball game. They were facing a very bad 3-2 zone and refused to reverse the basketball which ultimately cost them the game.

A game that should have been called fair. If you weren't at the game then you would think I am biased, but if a Williamstown fan commented to our coach, then I wasn't the only one who noticed. What I'm upset about is the fact that 3 grown men could do that to high school kids including Williamstowns. It's not the fact that Trimble lost, it's hard to watch your son(whether it be Williamstown or Trimble) being treated this way by adults.

When the ref's let the kids play Trimble County pulled away every time. Our players were couldn't move in fear of a foul being called.

What was the final foul count for both teams and the number of free throw attempts and makes by each team?

I can't remember the foul count for each team specifically. At half time, it was nearly even at 16-15 (TC-W), and 55 total fouls were called in the game. As to free throws, TC shot 24 and W shot 45.

I had one more foul for the game...56 (31 for TC, 25 for Williamstown)...but could've counted wrong! (Had the same numbers for halftime.) Also, don't forget the technicals (one for each side).

I, too, was disappointed in the number of whistles in this game (had no dog in the fight), as there was no flow to the game.

Trimble got hurt because their best player was affected by the tight calling, but Williamstown by no means has a deep bench...so both were equally impacted, in my opinion.

And finally to Webb's play...he is by no doubt a monster when out on the floor. Williamstown had absolutely no answer for him when playing man-to-man. (Which is why they went to the zone.) And honestly, with all the fouls that WERE called...Webb was fortunate he didn't foul out a few plays earlier, in which he went over the back getting and offensive rebound. What really surprised me though was TC's coach willingness to put him back in the game (in the first half) after he had picked up his 2nd. Thought he was playing with fire the way the game was being called.
