  1. A few names from Conner's past.... Tony Faher (sp) played in the 70's Rick Hicks played in the 70's Scott Thomas played in the early 80's.... as good a ball handler as there ever was. IMO.
  2. I agree with you on that! Parton was very quick and to this day is one of only a handful of players that could draw a charge in the backcourt as a team was bringing the ball up the floor in transition. Great memories of him playing.
  3. Any program's coaches that pay attention to the nonsense that is posted here, or any other media outlet, will not be around for long. Having said that, where there is smoke.... Coaches can't live in a world with their head in the sand neither. I would think that many reflections that are on this board and others like it are long before felt from the coaching staff of that program before any words posted here.
  4. I hunt with both a bow and also a gun. Though mostly with a gun, and a mostly at that with a muzzle loader. I enjoy both equally well, however, I tend to do more gun hunting than bow hunting. Not because I prefer that method over bow hunting, but because I have more time to do this after November when the footballs stop flying through the air. I generally will harvest 2 deer per year as that seems to be the right amount for my family. Since my son also is an avid hunter, if he takes 1, then that leaves me to just 1 also. When that occurs, I hunt for the big boyz only! I love to hunt, and to just be outdoors is the thrill for me. I don't really have to bag a deer to consider my time in the woods a success!
  5. Highlands rolls big in this one... 49 - 6. Turf, grass, sandlot, or parking lot...doesn't matter much.
  6. Just out of curiosity, who is #1 and #2 in Class A? I can hardly see HC as a top 3. Maybe top 5.
  7. I believe that a few well placed bullets, or the threat thereof, would preclude alot of the issues that are going on in todays world. I also am a fan of capital punishment being used as a deterrent to crime. The old eye for an eye....
  8. Sad isn't it Clyde? People somehow have lost the ability to decipher information on their own and formulate their own opinions. As a result, you end up with the followers of folks such as Beck, that are easily stirred to anger. I am amazed at the opinions of many people that you and I know personally. There ignorance is astounding to me. We should meet sometime and talk about the days when men were men, and the ability to converse with one another was an art, even a skill set that one developed over years of practice. My treat for the first round if such a meeting should ever occur.
  9. Personally, I am a follower of Beck. DVR his daily shows. However, I do not subscribe to his theories in utter blindness. I am a thinking man, and I believe what I believe. Nor do I blindly take all that is spoken or printed as the 'gospel of Beck'. As I said, I think for myself. I do, however, find it interesting that Beck has millions of followers that appear to like his blend of history with theology. Makes me sad honestly, to think that we as a nation, are so hungry to have light shed upon us that we will listen to an entertainer such as Beck and think that he is the answer. Sad indeed. If you listen to Beck prior to the rally in Washington, he advocated finding your version of God, and getting back to a point in time when people held more conservative views. Both admirable traits, in my opinion. In all, Glenn Beck is nothing more than an entertainer, and his viewpoints; opinions; etc are to be taken as such. If I need gospel preaching, I go to church. If I want to see about what a cess pool most people's morality has become, I turn on the evening news... any news. As for me, I take him for pure entertainment value and nothing more and nothing less. Like it or not, ________ (put your favorite host name here) is an entertainer that merely exists to provide entertainment value to the masses.
  10. You must been on the field to hear that conversation. Good stuff! I often wonder what coaches say to refs on the field when things dont go their way!
  11. Well said Leatherneck. Well said. Condolences to the GRC family, and especially to the family of this young man.
  12. I read about the fines ad the hunting ban but as wondering if this guy is going to do any significant time in the clink? Anyone heard?
  13. GC has had great success for only playing Varsity football going on only the 5th season, I believe. Certainly one of the main things they have to do, much like all the small schools, is get the numbers out there on the field. They will eventually get better as they get kids entrenched in the systems. But when you low numbers out for the team, it is difficult at times to even practice. Having said that, I feel confident that the program is heading in the right direction as is evident by the incoming 2010 freshman class. If my sources are correct they have about 20 kids in that class alone! In fact, when these new freshman (2010 class) are finally seniors, it will be the first group of kids to have come all the way up through pee-wee, middle school, and finally high school. So I have hope that the program at GC will only continue to get better as the numbers increase, and more importantly, the kids that are playing have had a chance to play ball for 5 years or more. 14. Wishing David a very speedy recovery! Best of health and happiness to you, sir! Blessings extended to his family as well.
  15. All in the Family Except I don't think that show goes over very well in today's PC world! Still a riot watching the reruns.
  16. album - Boston 1st album movie - The Good, Bad, and the Ugly game film - 1998 Uk vs Duke regional game book - Bible
  17. Travis Davis from Gallatin County will be threat from behind the arc next year. Might be one of the better 3 pt shooters FG% in the region.
  18. I do not know his name, but if the big kid from Emminence is one of two you named, then I agree! That kid will be a force down low as he grows. He also will benefit from having a good coach to teach him how to play strong in the low post. Huge upside for him!
  19. Actually, having had time to think about it some... I do not believe that any referee comes to the game with the intent of being in the spotlight and some underlying motive for / against a team. If they do, they will not be around for long. Having said that, it is part of the game that when that whistle blows you are drawing every eye in the gym to your spot. You interrupted the flow of the game by blasting that whistle. So naturally, all eyes are upon you. It has been my experience that on any given call, approximately half the crowd will disagree with you. If you are brave enough to wear the striped shirts, black pants, whistle on lanyard... and look the part on the floor, you ought to be brave enough to take the criticisms that come with it.
  20. I couldn't agree more, Doc! Let them put the shirt on and blast that whistle a few times and we will see just how many of them comment about stuff like this after trying it out!
