I was talking to a coach on the middle school team tonight regarding the youth programs. He said they need to have a few years going so that the kids playing in the lower grades can field a team of Freshman and JV on their own w/o taking from the younger aged kids to make a roster. I agree. They had about 20 players on the field tonight for a Middle School game against Grant County.

I have to take Gallatin in this one with the score GC 21 - OC 14. Go Cats.

With Bryce, Nate Brown and other upcoming players, Gallatin will do great things. However, I think next year may be their year. They just lost too much from last years team and this year may need to be a rebuilding year. Gallatin has a great program, athletes, coaches and parents. Cant wait to see you guys play again! Who has details... Scoring????

Couldn't make it to the game. Don't think Carlton played and I know Gallatin's numbers are low this year. Anyone have any details?

A little side note... last season there was a mention of a thread of best/worst gyms to watch a game and Heritage was mentioned there as a worst place. Turns out they are getting some major renovations on the gym and according to the AD there, it should be a huge improvement from what they had. So maybe this will help them in getting some kids to stay there through high school. I can think of 3 players that went to school there during middle school years and then transfered to other schools for high school. All three had successful seasons at the new schools during their high school seasons.

Our thoughts and prayers to the young man's family, friends, and of course, his teammates. It breaks my heart to hear of tragic news such as the case for this young man. It is my hope that we all learn to recognize the distress signs and pleas for help in our youth so that other tragic endings to a promising life is avoided. God Bless you all.

Funny how a school like Gallatin can consistently get kids to transfer from Sweet 16 teams to play at a school that has not won a region in 50 years or so! I suppoze someone put a buzz in Edmonson's ear that he needs to come on down to Gallatin and play for a real contender in stead of the wannabees like Covington Holmes!

What I meant was that I think Gallatin was the overwhelming favorite to win the All A region this past year. However, the 08-09 season really does not have that hands down favorite. I think Owen and Gallatin will once again play for the All A region title. I think Gallatin will win it to make it 4 in a row, but it will not be an easy go of it.

Good post! I agree with what you are saying here regarding GC because they lost alot of talent in the 3 kids you mentioned. However, they will still be one of top 3 or four teams in the entire region. As for the All 'A', I still think Gallatin will come out on top again, but they won't be the favorites to win it like they were this year.

It appears that Gallatin County senior TE/DE David Henson is going to sign with Kentucky Wesleyan College in the next few days. David visited the campus yesterday and after a brief workout, was offered a scholarship opportunity to play there. Congratulations to David and his family! :dancingpa

In a small school like Gallatin County, most athletes are three sort players because w/o these kids, there would be no programs. Considering 4 out of the top 6 basketball players were also football players, and almost the entire basketball team is playing baseball now, no wonder only a few kids showed. If there was no baseball games those days, no doubt the attendance would have been higher. All in all, Gallatin County has a nice program that is really just getting rolling along. I look for good things this season and for seasons yet to come. Go Cats!

I thought the kid could jump well and dunk it easily enough, but I was never impressed with him. Too skinny... and for years I watched as smaller players kept him out of the paint. For a player to be 4-5 inches taller than most of the kids I saw guard him, he was not able to capitalize on his hieght advantage.

I think Mason County will win, but I think the game will be closer than what you are implying. Mason County by 13 points. The Rockets probably don't have the athletes that Mason does, but they are not gonna roll over for them neither. JMO.
