I had forgotten aboutt hat which makes me just as stupid as the monkey! :lol: I am with you 3-7, even throw Ashland in that mix, all are even. All of them did a good job this year making Russell and JC look like juggernauts.

You see Raceland beat Fairview and West beat East so both should be ranked above those two teams. West beat Raceland so they should be in front of Raceland, as should East who also beat Raceland So it should be: 1. Russell 2. JC 3. BC 4. West Carter 5. East Carter 6. Raceland 7. Fairview But hey- who wants to rank them according to their play on the field and the outcome of the games right?

I think Raceland can shake off the last two weeks and get it done. I think they need to play with their heads on straight. These late hit penalties and taunting penalties have to go even if it means sitting some guys down to prove a point. They have got to get back to learning how to fundamentally tackle a person on defense. If they do that I think Raceland has the talent to outplay Fairview, but Fairview is going to want this one bad. Rams have to play perfect and I think they can and will.

I greatly enjoyed the regular season this year. There was a lot of excitement around this area with the renewal of the Russall/Raceland rivalry and outside of Johnson Central and Russell everyone else looked pretty even. It was fun, unpredictable, and a great regular season. That said, it's obvious the playoffs need to be looked at. Maybe we just need a district championship and not two rounds of distrct playoffs?

I wonder if they would use the "KISS CAM" up on the jumbotron? Certainly would be a way to increase male attendance!

Once again moral principle forbids me to take Fairview, plus I kinda like BC. Boyd 18 'View 14

Several times it looked like Raceland fans were in the process of loving themselves, giving themselves hugs. Bret Denton's Dad looked like he had really come to love himself thereby allowing him to really love others several times throughout the game. But then I realized they were not hugging themselves but rather telling the players to wrap up on tackles. So much for self-actualization. I agree, way too many arm tackles epsecially in the second half. Sometimes that can be a symptom of being tired. Raceland definitely was worn down in the second half and it showed. They've got get back to fundamentals and conditioning this week. And they certainly have the Coaching staff that will make the adjustments they need to make. Well the Rail City Bowl has come and gone and I want to commend Raceland and Russell on putting this thing together. Kudos to Raceland on getting the stadium clean and making it a great atmosphere for a big time high school football game. I've seen Russell play many times this year and of the Russell games I have seen them play that's the first game where they got hit square in the mouth from the opening bell and hit they immediately right back. The first half was like a heavyweight fight with both of these teams slugging it out and taking into the locker room with a 14-14 tie. A lot of talk around town this week was that the Devils were looking ahead to the playoffs and were not too concerned with this game. But when Raceland came out drove down the field and scored first you could see the Devils were in this game to win it. They came right back out and took the ensuing kick-off to the house. They matched Raceland's intensity on every play and it turned into a real slobberknocker. The second half began with a typical Russell 3rd Quarter. They tend to really come into their own in the 3rd Quarter this year and they forced Raceland into making mistakes and kept Raceland's offense off the field. Now I didn't make it to the game against Simon Kenton or out to Mason County, but this to me was the most complete game Russell played year. With the exception of the first half interception Jones had I thought that was the best the Devils had looked all season. Russell really leaned on Raceland in the third quarter and eeked out some great runs and then Jones did a fantastic job passing tonight. A couple of times he was flushed out of the pocket and did a great job locating his receivers down field. Some observations on the Ram side of things. They have got to get back to the fundamentals of tackling and they have got to make plays on the ball in the passing game. They also to be disciplined at the line of scrimmage and not put themselves in a hole before the the ball is even snapped. As everyone else here has already pointed out, penalties and turnovers will kill you. And when you commit them playing against a team who has been to the Pizza Box the last two seasons they will make you pay. And they did. On the positive note it's nice to see the Rams have a duo of fantastic backs in Denton and Carver. I was really impressed with Carver's ability to get to the edge. When Carver cuts upfield he has another gear he kicks into and it really helped him get that long TD run in the first half. Denton is great north-south runner who hits anything in his way. I am not sure how many tackles he had tonight but it seemed like #20 was on the ball every play. Finally Raceland did a really good job blocking as well. Russell wasn't in the backfield very often and the credit goes to the O-line for that. In the end though kudos to the Rams and the Devils. The Rams never quit and they came out and played physical football with Russell. Russell sure didn't overlook Raceland and matched Raceland's intensity play after play and the better team won tonight. If anything it was great to see Russell and Raceland on a football field for the first time in my lifetime with the smell of hamburgers drifting through the air, the Russell cow bells rattling in the stands, the Raceland fans clanging those aluminum bleachers, and the headlights from the highway passing by the stadium. Last night was what high school football was all about. It's a shame we have to wait 364 more days for the rematch in the Hank. I'm ready to see these two go again already!

I still can't believe we are talking about Ram Stadium and whether or not Russell should "lower" themselves to the little brother's level and play in his room for once. Come on. And people wonder where the steroetypes of Russell fans come from? I give the Russell Admin, especially Sam Sparks, all the props in the world for doing a home and home. I like that this game will have a completely different atmosphere than next year's game. That's the way football is meant to be played. And despite popular belief there will be plenty of room to watch the game. If it's still rainy and wet on Friday the casual fans will stay at home and watch the replay on Channel 25. And I don't know about anyone else but after sitting on Russell's rigid metal back seats all year up in the reserved section I don't mind sitting in a comfortable lawn chair with a cup holder! Despite some posts on here I am glad the Russell admin agreed to a home and home and didn't bully themselves like Ashland does. I am not an Ashland apologist and I think it's disgraceful they don't at least come to Raceland every two years. I think they owe them that. Kudos to Russell for doing the right thing.

Back to the actual game, in many ways I think it's a good thing Russell played Simon Kenton and Mason County back-to-back helps because it gave them a chance to be physical. Raceland will certainly be physical and try to hit Russell in the mouth. The two games leading up to this will help the Devils punch back. Do they have they have the quickness though up front to disrupt the Rams passing game?

Or move the practice to Saturday when there are no other practices to maximize the gate! :fire::thumb:

I have no idea, but reading the Ashland posts this year it seems as if some would be more than happy to drive the U-Haul for him. Mere speculation on my part hence the "what could be" and not "what WILL be." :thumb:
