The smoking is the worst. Our seat on the corner of the reserve section and people "hang out" against the side of the stands and the smoke just sails up. It's a major problem not just at Russell, but everywhere around here. I am all for people being able to smoke if they want- but they should have an area set aside for them to do so. And if it is true and you can't smoke then it needs to be enforced. There are so many cops at every game you could rob a bank in Downtown Russell and be in Mexico before they could respond, but they don't seem to enforce anything. They just stand around and watch the game unless a fight breaks out somewhere or someone gets hurt.

I'm sorry- other people can feel that way. I just feel like if there is mutual respect, after all these seasons, then they should come to Raceland at least once. But hey- if the powers at be at Raceland want to keep going to Ashland more power to them. And if the fans that go to every game are fine with it so be it. I am merely one person expressing an opinion on a message board. But if I am an Ashland player/fan/coach I would WANT to come to Raceland and beat them in their house- especially after they beat you the last two seasons at Putnam. Wouldn't you want to go into Raceland's house and beat them? Give them the same feeling they gave you? I don't know. It just doesn't make sense to me that Raceland would continue to agree to come up there and Ashland wouldn't want to come down there. But like I said that's just my opinion. And you know what they say about that. Everybody has one. :thumb: And that is the last you will hear me say...errr....type on the subject. I think Ashland will do well in 2008. They will be looking for a stand out kid to replace Matt Thomas- but Ashland always seems to find that guy, I think they have a solid Coach and staff in place, but their schedule is tough. Ashland has a great program and tradition. Best of luck in 2008.

Its a shame they only have 4 home games. I'm definitely going to the Ashland game, the LCA game, and the Russell game by default. Those are must sees. I'll be out-of-town on the 10th when they play Paris though. This one could be one to remember for the Rams. Are they comparable to the '96 team that went 10-0?

:thumb: Great post! I agree 100%. Last year though it seemed like a lot of guys on both sides thought it wasn't beneficial in this regard- but I think it is. Raceland is very balanced and a lot of the teams Russell faces the further along they go int he playoffs are more balanced. Likewise, Raceland will see a lot of run heavy teams as they go on and more physical teams. Russell is VERY physical. Win or lose I think helps both teams. And it certainly helped the community. That was the best atmosphere for a high school game I've ever experienced. I am sure it will be just as good this year in the Hank.

I don't know. I bet Ram would know. But even still that can't even out when you have to pay a bus driver, gas, etc. Like I said though it's Raceland's call, but if I were them I would want a home game. While the Tomcat Nation may not agree to it I think Ashland owes them at least one trip to Ram Stadium out of respect. And as the Russell game proved- you can put a lot of people in Raceland's stadium. They brought in extra seats, had plenty of areas to stand, had ample parking, and even ran a shuttle service for anyone that wanted a ride. I am sure they would do the same for the Ashland game.

I'm one of the rare Raceland fans who thinks its time for them to come to Ram Stadium. But a lot of Raceland fans don't mind going to Putnam every year and look forward to it. I can understand that but at some point I think it becomes disrespectful to at least not offer to come to Raceland once. Given the size difference in the two stadiums I can see giving Ashland 2 straight home games, but get them to come down to Raceland at least once every third season. They've been playing each other now almost yearly since Bill Tom was at Raceland and you would think Ashland would WANT to come down US 23 just out of the mutual respect that seems exist between the two schools. But if Raceland doesn't press the issue they will continue to just let the Rams come to Ashland until someone says something. All that said I suppose if they want the Rams to keep coming to their field and beating them then I shouldn't complain. :lol:

The Baptists playing on the Non-Denominational College's field? We CAN all get along after all! :lol: That would be a great place to play. They are building a nice stadium and doing it right.

It would only make sense for Rose Hill to be in 1-5. Maybe they will move Berea to 1-6?

I went to school with Lauren so I really hate to hear this. He will certainly be missed. Prayers to the Rose family.

I hate the ending for Samantha Sparks. She is a classy young lady and comes from a Class family that I personally have tremendous respect for. She has nothing to hang her head about- she left it all on the court. Congrats to the Lady Devils on a hard fought season and to Morgan County for moving on!

Or Bill Tom Ross's ability to read the name on is Caller ID! LOL! :ylsuper: Raceland's win over LCA in the playoffs in 2006 was a big win as well. Those kids went in to that game refusing to lose. I remember when I was at Raceland they played a tough Greenup team to a Triple Overtime win in 1994. Until the Russell game this past season, that was the biggest crowd I had ever seen at Ram Stadium. There was literally people everywhere, flooding the sidelines, the end zones. The playoff win I was thinking of was the win over Dayton in 2002. The '97 win was when I lived in Cincinnati. I am getting too old to remember all this stuff. Someone needs to create a nice website with all the history and results.
